We were meant to be yeah. At the time, pre-apocalypse, it was suggested he would play for the reserves and provide cover for the first team on pretty much minimum wage as he wanted to return to the UK permanently and sort his future post-rugby. It was never announced however and there were never any pictures anywhere of him in the training kit, so hopefully we've avoided that one. The reserves have been disbanded for this season I believe for obvious reasons.
The signing we're meant to be making is one of James Tamou and James Graham. The former is a top player still and at 31 would be arguably the best prop in Super League. Graham would be more of a Rooney to Everton signing for a swansong season, but he'd still do a more than solid job and give us time to replace Thompson properly.

| Wow. Is Tamou only 31. Would be a good signing for Saints if that comes off. He seems to have been around forever. I would have guessed he was 35.

| Interesting signing , shirt sales and merchandise alone will go along way to covering the outlay , I like many hope he goes well for you .
We will find out just how strong his knees hold up as soon as Wigan's cannonball crew have had a nibble on him .

| I'm loving some of the bitter fans talking about "topping up his pension". Do they not realised he's only signed a 1 year deal? Hopefully he goes well, stays fit, enjoys himself and wants to stay the following year. Either way, I can't wait to see him in a wire shirt. I can imagine his first run out at the hj being similar to the Andrew Johns night.

Hope it's against us, so we don't have to face him when he's match fit.
I also pray that crowds will be allowed. Imagine a season of having Greg Inglis in Super League only for crowds to be banned.

| On a side issue, does anybody else sense this is Wire firing a warning shot to Hetherington and co in Yorkshire, who are looking to lower the cap and stifle the ambition of clubs like Wire?
Won't be shocked to hear talk of franchises and mergers coming again very soon. It makes zero sense for ambitious clubs to be held back in these financially turbulent times by other clubs, especially a couple who shouldn't even be in the league due to not playing at suitable venues.

| I just don't get where Wigan are in all of this Yorks v Lancs rumoured salary cap stuff. There were rumours about their financial strength last year I remember. They've always been advocates of increasing or entirely removing the cap, but I do wonder about Pollard and whether he's really up for spending some dollar.

Gary is in it for his own gains don’t kid yourself fella, Wire are a well run business who make a profit most years are Middleton and Moran not entitled to spend their money as they see fit? Wait till Inglis is done here and we take that Harry Newman fella off your hands for ridiculous sums of money your head will fall off then.

The highlight for me for the last 9 weeks has been a trip to the farm shop.
Massively impressed with the club and board.

Credit to everyone who made this happen. I can't wait to see him in a wire shirt.

Mike McMeeken or Josh Jones would be an ideal replacement for BBM - the rumours persist. Then there’s serious question marks over Gelling due to his off field behaviour - bringing the club into disrepute I don’t think that has gone down to well with the hierarchy at the club. Then there’s the contracts saga to sort out; Currie, JClark, Livett, Patton and Davis are nearing the end of their deals. It also makes you wonder which player this pushes out on the current quota spot - Mamo is on the fringes of the 17 and takes up a spot? Are we better off releasing him as we have cover in Ashton and Thewlis. Then there’s the Burrell experiment which isn’t exactly Mentos and Diet Coke..

Who cares if he's cheap?(class players usually aren't!). Two very wealthy Warrington fans are spending their money how they see fit. Anyway, as someone alluded to earlier, the signing pays for itself if you market it properly. Let's say hypothetically we are paying inglis 500k for a season. We could sell 1000 extra season tickets, 1000 extra replica shirts. Not to mention a rise in away fans paying on the day to watch the man in action .
