A replacement for BMM ?

Hearing return of Livett with a new contract and McMeeken joining us are on the cards.

Interesting development around salary cap for 2021. The West Yorkshire mafia (Cas, Wakey, Hudds, Leeds) wanting to drop the cap to £1.8m next year, clubs this side of the Pennines still supporting a full £2.1m cap limit on the basis clubs do not have to spend to it if they feel they can't and the fact it would reflect negatively on the sport.

Not sure how it would work with contracts already agreed for 2021 in some instances, are West Yorks expecting players to take an across the board 15% pay cut? Or run with smaller squads.

A mandatory reduction in the cap, even if it's only temporary due to the prevailing economic conditions, is a backward step IMO and as you say Alffi what about current contracts? Yes we are probably fortunate at Warrington, but if the guys in West Yorks only want to spend £1.8m there's nowt stopping them

Absolutely, Uncle Rico. clubs should ensure that their expenditure is in line with their ability to pay. If Heatherington wants to limit his expenditure then let him. He is probably more concerned about the cost of his new stadium. No doubt if and when it is paid for he will be pushing to increase the cap to suit himself.

It has taken us years to get him to agree to a reserve grade when most clubs and pundits thought it a must have. Let's not let him and his cohorts over the pennines dictate that we operate to the lowest common denominator.

Agree 100% on the cap issue, as a Leeds fan, im hugely disappointed in my club for being in favour of a reduced cap. Think Leeds have handled the whole lockdown situation very poorly, as fans worrying for our game and our clubs, crying out for something positive, Leeds have constantly pushed doom and gloom articles out to the point of it getting tiresome.

If your multi millionaire owner wants to put enough money in to enable Wire to pay 2. 1m, but our multi millionaire owner dosnt, why should Warringtons be prevented from doing so? He shouldnt be prevented, like i say, disappointed with Leeds

The Gelling issue and injury to Ashton, highlighted a dropped bollox. Livett in our squad, on the bench even, would have covered our backs.
He’s the one of very few players if any that can play and position except prop...and not just a cover, but as well as almost any player in there position in SL.
That is one very handy string to have in a bow.

Get him back and on our bench...that’s 1234567,9,11,12,13 all covered. Loaning him out was the biggest brain fart other than failing to land a big prop, that’s happened since trying to sign a player, Roberts, that clearly didn’t want to come here.

Iirc Livett signed an extension during the 2018 season mainly after a handful of big games (Leeds away being the stand out) and as you say a believed substantial wage increase.
He's on the list of players up at the end of this season (whenever that is).

I know what you are driving at but player contracts will be governed by a spefic date regardless of how long the season does or doesn't drag on for. Messy!

Don't think they want him. They are saying Greenwood is a better player if they can get him fit.

It's more an issue of dedication and willingness with Greenwood. Most of us think he is a superb player. We signed him unfit but he came straight in and played brilliantly but since Lam has come in something has gone very wrong. Nobody seems to know what.

But you signed Mamo to do that job. Honestly can't see why the Warrington coaching staff don't see Livett's potential.

I dunno... perhaps they get to see him everyday in training, or something??

I'd be ok with it, assuming he came back here once our season was back up and running, could mean we have a battle hardened BMM to come straight back in. Concern would be whether we would be able to get him back. It is a bit of a mystery as to what has "gone wrong" with Harvey but as the "Slot" says we don't see him in training every day., Having said that, neither to our coaches as he is on loan at HKR but you know what I mean. Looked like a great prospect when he first broke through

Sounds like a really wierd one. Couple oy years ago I thought Greenwood, Savelio and Currie would be the cornerstone of the GB pack for years to come.
Two have had some horrific injuries, Greenwood is a complete enigma. People have been questioning whether he's tough enough...
