TBF, I don't think anybody is saying Warrington don't deserve their place. Your team can only play the whistle and won fair and square in that respect.

The problem is with the standard of the officiating. That I do give a f about, as it has wide implications for our game. It needs urgently improving.

We deserve nothing this season and Warrington are deserved finalists over the course of it. However, tonight was a very simple robbery. I think nearly all of us Saints fans have groaned about Cunningham bemoaning decisions when the lack of performance should be the priority, but for once the referee did define our defeat tonight. It wasn't a case of general bad decisions, it was all three trys in the second half that very clearly went the wrong way. Tbf, despite the two offenses in the run up, there was nothing wrong with Ratchford's finish and we have to look to ourselves for not being alert. You do make your own luck to a certain extent and we proved that in our golden years. We've got to rebuild and wing those decisions in the future.

The Lineham try. He gets one look at it. From where he was, it looks a try.
The touch judge that looks like a Chuckle Brother couldn't see whether the ball's been dropped or not. So they give try. In real time, it looks a try, every day of the week, so they give it. If they go to the screen, everyone whinges "what are they doing that for". Even if they did go to the screen, there's no conclusive proof that the ball didn't leave Lineham's body. TRY.

As for the Peyreaux effort....Thaler gets one look, and says no try, therefore the replay MUST show evidence to the contrary. IT DIDN'T.

The only debatable try was your disallowed one, all the rest were fine... gidley got it down initially and lineham grounded with his torso.

The current rules state that if a ref's call is No Try, there has to be CONCLUSIVE proof to overturn it. THERE WASN'T. At no time, could you see the ball TOUCHING a single blade of grass, whilst over the line.

After multiple viewings of the Lineham effort, Hemmings and Stephenson decide to get their knickers in a twist. Yet there is no conclusive proof that the ball left his body.

For once Saints DON'T get the rub of the green. BOO HOO. We were harshly done to with the VR against Wigan, it happens. Still would have been 18-16/14 regardless. As others have said, the current rules state the VR needs conclusive proof to overturn the onfield decision.

BTW (by the way) Lefty's analysis was spot on it's the ref calling try/no try and not being able to be conclusively overturned that worked in our favour. Thought Saints' first try had a hint of forward for the last pass.

Overall we deserved the result and yes got the 'rub' it's about time

After the crap we've had off that lot, results and decisions, since early 2000's, that was a long time coming. The fact that it was a semi-final and they've got their pants in a twist about the ref makes it even sweeter.

I agree there has to be conclusive proof, and this is why we differ, because I thought Peyroux's was conclusive. You can see the ball hitting the white line. The video ref, as with everyone watching, knew it was a try and did not have the courage to overturn it. I also think Lineham's knock on conclusively dropped forward. That said, if you don't think it was conclusive then we can only agree to disagree and the scoreline is definitely conclusive.

Disagree about Lineham, he never fully lost control, not clean but it was a try all the same, I agree about the peyroux try. I was laughing my nuts off when that wasn't given. Swings and roundabouts, same as the try awarded to Wigan against a couple of weeks ago, poor call. We definitely deserved it though. Hopefully we will finish the job next week.

Nobody has mentioned the two Walmsley dives that manufactured 4 points for Saints. He's amazingly delicate for such a big lad.
