Use B&T skip hire, ive used them a lot lately where ive needed around 5 skips. They have always been spot on, deliver the same day etc. Its £50 for a 4 tonne skip but cheaper if you just need a midi or mini skip.

| Salford's bin collection has continued through the bad weather by the way. No issues for those guys on the icy roads in their HGVs.

What if I slipped and broke my leg on the ice, or drove to the tip and the ice caught my car and I hit a parked car? Would the council pay for the damages or pay for my increased premium, or even pay for any medical treatment that I require. No, they wouldn't.
However we pay council tax for them to collect the bins. If they are not doing that, why should we pay. Me, well I'm waiting on an email from the council answering my request for a credit against my council tax. I deal with people requesting compensation all the time for loss of business or services. Why shouldn't I be allowed to request this? Money is tight enough as it is without paying out for a service that is not being received.

| With the temperatures not rising above freezing in the last 48 hours, how have the road surfaces improved?
Just shows what a bum decision it was in the first place.

The thing is, everyone down my street put their bins out on Tuesday and have put them back. If they didn't check that they weren't being collected on Tuesday, will they check that they are being collected tomorrow?

I don't want a 20 Tonne (complete and utter guess) wagon swerving in and out of the often poorly parked cars. Maybe if we didn't have a compensation culture, the council would be prepared to take a small amount of risk !! The compensation culture is good in my opinion. Quite liberating actually. Where there is legally liable damage/loss to an individual/business caused by failure of duty of care by a third party I'm all for it. It makes us more considerate as a society. A classic example is all those working people whose lives were cut short/limited by asbestosis due to a failure of duty by their employers. It is right that they are compensated for such loss.
English Law is quite simple. Show reasonable duty of care and you have nothing to worry about.'"
I agree but not to the extent that we see now. A number of 'claims' today are fraudulent. This should not be encouraged.

Far too many are fraudulent or exaggerated IMO. A girl in work came in the other day whooping and hollering. Someone asked what had happened to make her so happy. She said she'd had another car run into the back of her's. Someone asked again what had happened to make her so happy. She replied that she had told the police she'd hurt her neck and had booked a doctor's appointment and was going 'to make thousands'. Actual damage to car? An almost unnoticable mark on the bumper. She then gleefully passed her Christmas cards out saying she was taking this week off because of her 'injuries'. She was literally skipping about the place.
I told the Directors to sack her, they agreed but were told off by the group HR manager because 'the company might get sued' if they sacked her. The stupid thing is she did exactly the same thing about a year ago and got thousands from that.
I'd say that reaction (Minus the blondeness and openness about what she was doing) was pretty typical. Get a Doc's appointment, moan about neck pain, get a note mentioning whiplash (Unprovable whether or not it's genuine, the Doc probably doesn't care), perps insurace company has to fork out thousands for blonde girl's holiday.

I've had two payouts for whiplash. Going rate is £1,500-2,000 settlement for out of court settlement in my experience.
The issue is a known flaw within the Civil Legal system due to the costs of defending a claim. The insurers would rather pay out a settlement compensation rather than incur the costs and risks of litigation. This has encouraged the activity you describe above.
Having said that if the other driver had shown more care and attention with adequate stopping distances then none of it would have happened.

mine has, though its one of about 3 in our street that actually got put out.
Sidenote, how come i can ignore 2 alarms in my bed room yet the slight rumble of a bin wagon at the end of my street when i haven't put it out motivates me like a mofo?

| Mine have been taken, black at least. I was about the only person down the street who knew about the resuming of the service today. I've spoken to a couple of them this afternoon and they were not happy when they found out. Only others taken were those who ignorantly left them half buried on the side of the road from Tuesday.

| Daft question perhaps but where does one take their rubbish bags? Having not had a collection this way for a few weeks we now have multiple bag pile up in the garden and I would like to get shut.
Is it just the usual tip sites which accept this kind of waste?

Most tips will take it,but you will get frowned up for not recycling.
