Thats how I saw it, it was Goodwin who fluffed it.
I thought Bridge was average and gave away a couple of cheap penalties but he was better than Smith and we dont have many other options.

Burgess. A 20 year old monster who's playing like a 30 year old veteran and is going to get bigger
The Myler vs Tomkins vs Eastmond bickering between Wire, Wigan and Saints fans is pathetic.
All 3 are class and the 2 being played at the moment are doing a fine job. They're being selected ahead of Myler because they're match sharp and match fit unlike Myler who hasn't played much for 3 or 4 months.
That doesn't make him a bad player or any less of a player then the 2 being selected but why people have to keep trying to points score is beyond me.
We should just enjoy the talent these 3 lads have.

Spot on post, Mr Kiss. I'd applaud you if I was a smilie-obsessed idiot! We're seeing the best of Burgess right now just as he's sodding off down under.

How pathetic are you? Sam got the kick away under alot of pressure after a poor pass, he did very well to put any kick in at all. He was putting in good kicks as well last weeks against the Aussies when he got the chance and has done all season, his short kicking game into the in goal is one of the best I've seen at Wigan since Lam. To suggest Sam only has his side step to his game is laughable and pathetic, but then again wouldn't expect anything else from you.
Just as an example, watch the game at Murrayfield when Sams short kicking game was superb, creating a try for Pat Richards in the game, against Leeds in the big game at Wigan, a little flick pass that created the try for Wigan to go ahead with Harrison Hansen, "Stevo's words, beautiful little flick inside pass by young Sam Tomkins". But never mind, keep believing your own little myth that he can't do anymore than his side step.

Tomkins kicking game has improved hugely from the beginning of the year but even then i think abit of a myth went about he couldn't kick mainly due to the fact he wasn't getting much of a go at it.
We had Smith controlling most of that when Sam would come on with Leuluai going to 9 and rumours soon started to spread that this lad couldn't kick.
He can kick just fine both from range and close to the line and has come up with some big plays in big games. He got a couple of 40/20's in the play offs, grubbered a lovely weighted kick through against the Aussies last week(that led to Slater being tackled in touch leading to a try set up by Tomkins in that next set) and got a great cross field kick away under pressure on Saturday for Fox's try.
It's just another example of the silly points scoring when people question his kicking abilities.

Exactly, the fact that he tries his step too much is probably why anti tomkins folk like to say such things. Sam is still developing his game, some are forgetting that it's his debut season and already is getting flack for being a good player. You only give so much stick to the good players.

Correct. You wait twenty years for a decent half-back and then three turn up at once...............................

And there-in lies the crux of the situation. Shock horror, Bridge isn't as good as Inglis, he will tear him apart. Well replace Bridge with someone who can contain Inglis then.

| Bridge was fine the other night, pretty good assist, he'd beat the NZ defender before he'd even touched the ball, Gleeson-esque footwork and pass dare I say it.
Defensively, yeah he gave a couple of penalties away, he tackled very well though, forced a couple of mistakes with tackles and that side of the pitch looked solid all night long apart from the try where Fox came out of the line, which was pretty much his only mistake the whole night. As a unit, I thought the right edge looked very strong, cohesive etc.
As International debuts go, they don't come much tougher, say, this week apart like, but I thought he stepped up well, he looked the part etc.
