He’ll do okay as impact booker, but doesn’t have the all-round game of Walker. However, he can kick a mean drop goal which is always a bonus.

It appears similar to the Russell signing, limited player but hopefully cheap.

And I don't think he'll come to us in a 'Russell' fashion. Russell had no options but wanted a chance. Smart bit of business by DP/KF. He's already earned his money this year for me.

I'm resigned to loosing Clark, and he will be a big loss imo because he can do what he did on Friday - a big plus. For me he's still our no. 9 but Walker is obviously the future.
I like Dwyer, but don't think he gives us enough of a difference to Walker.

I believe he did, but he's been a bench replacement hooker at the other clubs that he's been at, since he left us. I'm fine with him being back up to Walker.

Already chatting about this in the recruitment and retention thread. I'm very happy with this if true. But some people really aren't, so he's a bit of a marmite player it seems.

Because he's 30 years old now,? He rightly left to try to nail down a starting spot to further his career, because we have had the luxury of having an excellent Darryl Clark as first choice for 9 years. Dwyer is a good hooker, walker will be first choice, but dwyer will provide a spark off the bench, he's also got a nice habit of snatching important trys from dummy half against stubborn defences.

I'm happy with this signing as I suspect he will be good value and allow us to balance the spending better across the squad. We have made some good signings under Powell (Magoulias aside). Well done to Walker for really developing into a top #9.

I don’t think I’d be too harsh about Magoulias. He was injured and homesick as part of the worst wire team in super league history. I thought he was impressive in the World Cup, and if he’d joined us this year instead of last, he’d probably look pretty good as a ball-handling forward.

He scores a few, makes breaks, drops goals (sorry to put this in) & is generally worth watching. Have seen him have some very good spells. I reckon we know what we will get (which can't be said of all signings).

Is this happening, I hope so. Always comes off the bench and makes things happen. He will know he won't be starting hooker and must be happy with the situation. As for clark, what a fantastic player he has been, we've definitely seen the best of him. Still a good player but exactly the right time to be letting him go.

He has been a superb player for us and can only wish him well. With a 3 year contract at Saints he is likely to win a GF and it will be well deserved.

He might already have a GF win before he plays for saints

As much as I like Clark I’m not on board with this ‘he deserves a title with Saints’ cobblers. Maybe he does but I certainly don’t want to see it and wish him absolutely no luck whatsoever whilst playing for them. I hope he wins nothing during his time there.

1. I don't wish success on other teams at the expense of Warrington.
2. It is arguable that Saints are more likely to win a GF in the next 3 years than us.
3. If Clark wins a GF with us I will be delighted.
4. If Clark wins a GF with Saints I will be pleased for him personally despite my dislike of Saints.

totally underwhelmed by the prospect of signing Dwyer. I watched him play for Hull the other night and thought to myself "I'm glad we got rid of him!"...if Clark goes to Saints, for me, thats a MASSIVE mistake. The fact they want he tells me we should be trying harder to keep him.

Salary cap is a big factor in this. We have an excellent hooker developing in Walker, is he a good as Clark is right now, its debateable but probably not, although he is a much more rounded hooker. There could be £80k difference between what we are paying Clark and what we would pay Dwyer, which would allow us to strengthen other areas in need. Add in to that Clark will be 31 start of next year, Walker (I think) will be 24.

I’m with A7 on this. Rumour has it Saints offered DC a 3 year contract, Would we have been happy about that? I wouldn’t. D Walker will be on much improved terms so salary cap comes into play. Dwyer should be seen as a replacement bench hooker NOT as a direct replacement for Clark.
I also agree that Danny Walker has more variety in his game and potentially could go no to be a real class act. This is not to denigrate Clark in any way who has been a great player for us. Fact is as you climb the ladder you sometimes have to let players go before you want to. happens to both Saints and Wigan regularly.

Yes I think we'd all prefer Walker and Clark to Walker and Dwyer but I do think by doing this we are spending our cap more wisely if it allows us to bring in a quality centre and a quality second row.

Clark will probably smash it at Saints but it's still the right decision all in all.
