Is there any truth in the rumour that the "Ultras" were behind the design of Wigan's kits this year? The quality of design is reminiscent of the flags you have come up with.

Either way - keep up the good work. What with government cuts, no bin collections, un-employment and student fees the world needs something to laugh at.

Not really, it happens all over the world in football and why not? It creates an atmosphere and shows the passion certain fans have for the club.

Wank isn't abusive language. It's simply stating fact or another word for rubbish. You watch Liverpool home and away and you witnessed worse in warrington town centre? I find that very hard to believe. If I get attacked in Wigan on a saturday night is that by a Wigan fan? According to a magistrates report posted on here a man got raped in Wigan. The idea is a great one though, creating atmosphere can only be a good thing and full credit to you for putting so much time, money and effort into supporting your club. A name related to Wigan or the club would have been more apt. Banners celebrating your past players and great history would be a good idea.

I love the European Ultras culture, but Wigan are hardly Napoli are they?! Credit to them for making some effort with supporter led initiatives though, and their banners are in the main a lot better than the atrocities put up at our games that don't represent anyone who doesn't support England or effing Millwall!

RL is decidedly lacking in the sort of fan culture that I love (people on here who go away with Liverpool or United will have an idea of what I mean) and fair do's to Wigan for at least having a go.

Yes, its 100% true, there is too much of a police presence at football these days for major trouble, what I witnessed that night was pure violence that ended in severe injury to quite a few Wigan fans walking back to the train station, one lad got glassed in the face, I know this because I was stood across the road from it, im aware every club has an idiotic element im just stating that I witnessed it first hand at Warrington, maybe I shouldnt tar you all with the same brush and my comment maybe shouldn't have read "your lot"

Spent many years travelling around Europe watching football.... I have 'bumped' into many different ultras.... Some real nice ones in holland and Italy.

Ultras are associated with violence/hooliganism....you only have to google football ultras to see that..... Yes there may be some nice ones out there.... Still doesn't detract from the fact that giving yourself the tag of 'ultra' means you are associating yourself with that well known undesirable element.....

ultras my ,just young knobs who like to hunt in packs and jib you in the legs knowing their local friendly coppers will let them melt away into the crowds,do they ever travel to england for away games and bring it with them,no,it's always the joeys who work in your local pizzeria who are afforded the same comforts.a bunch of houses.

Im aware of that, maybe at Millwall, Forest, Leeds, Cardiff, Bristol City etc but its very rare there's trouble in the premiership these days, you only have to look at the clubs with the most arrests and what the arrests are for the back that up, most arrests for premiership clubs are for drunk and disorderly or minor public order offences were as the lower divisions clubs are more for affray and violent conduct. Also if you google "definition of ultra" you will see it is in no way related to violence or racism.

I can get behind the first paragraph. I commend Wigan on there desire in that respect. The execution is a little limp, but time will tell. If the WCC display goes as planned i can see that setting a message for GB/ENG RL.

However, i don't watch football and don't know too much about specific ultra groups. I couldn't pick out good and bad ones. But i personally believed on the whole they were bad news and this seems to have backed it up for me.

I think that it is a mistake to be so inline with ultras (in terms of name and image) as the mind adds the negative aspects (racism and hooliganism)

A swastika is a Hindu peace symbol; I wouldn't where it on a T-shirt. Although the intention may be good the connotation can be entirely different.

I don't think anyone is criticizing the support; but many think the image of Wigan Ultras is dangerous ground.

You can call us ignorant for associating ultras with violence but there is a few who do. Better safe than sorry.

The idea of fundraising for flags, drumming up support etc is a good one.... I just think you have been a little naive in the naming convention.

To the majority of people the ultra tag isn't a good thing.
