Stunning display by Catalans, one thing I don't agree with is the 'sh one t Helens chant, particularly when we aren't playing them. I think it makes us look a bit small time cue Jonno, AS and Lebron!!

Agree 100% about that chant. Oppo fans often sing 'W****y' Warrington only for it to blow up in their faces ( like on Sunday) but it always comes over as petty. We shouldn't stoop to that level. Oh, and in these days of gender equality ( and some good quality women's RL) I think they should drop singing TF & the Wire, too.

There is enough sanitation as it is.

Could be a bit drastic considering some of the lady spectators at sports fixtures have more tattoos & sup more ale than their male counterparts. I can't imagine their lug holes being offended by colourful language.

They should stop chanting tf and the wire because its moronic and rubbish.

Where do we stop? "Gimme a W" is essentially a basic spelling exercise but it's in our blood.

Anyway that's the beauty of chants - they are organic and cannot be supressed by the snowflakes.

You know ,without the chanting at the match ,moronic or otherwise ,it would be a pretty dull affair & akin to having a day out at the cemetery. Last week i watched Toronto & Featherstone & the silence from the terraces was deafening. Most noise was made by the small band of travelling Rovers pigeon fanciers & the Toronto fans had to be prompted by the on field MC to cheer & shout for their own team. Very mausoleumesque.

The Helens song isn't going to win any Mercury Music awards but, like it or not, it is a retort of sorts against the wan#y song. In the grand scheme of things, I would much rather have a song like that in our armoury and have a handful of people offended than no response to our travelling friends.

If we removed swearing from our songs, I think we'd ironically encourage more dislike from opposing fans as no one really likes the 'I'm more virtuous than you type'- it just comes across as snobby. At the end of the day, swearing doesn't really harm anyone- life would be really boring if everything was perfect and sanitized. If you're offended by it, just go and watch some tennis instead.

The tfw song is a bit naff though. I even thought it was naff years before our awareness for sexism had been raised.

I agree 100% with posts about the chants adding to the atmosphere at the ground. To make it clear to you I'm not offended in any way about TF and the wire I just think its crap,each to their own.

Yes to sing about sides who are not your opponents is small time mentality I agree. I guess in mitigation St Helens fans were actually present

Fans chanting will come very quickly whilst amongst the SL teams.
Do to the travelling fans of St George over the years, it has seen their fans also being a chanting pocket of fans.
So I believe....a couple of their fans told me some years ago.

Yeah, I think that's the only reason it was sung to be fair. The singing of it during/immediately after the Saints match I thought was funny, not during our game though...

Found it very odd that Saints didn't rush to pack down and stop the clock on a few occasions. Their body language read to me like CBA, trouble at mill?

I noticed a few Wires fans singing along mainly to the ring the bell on the old bagatelle bit, but if you want to see the full effect get on You tube and see Glasgow rangers gave it a decent go......
