The more I think about it the more Powell seems the better choice. Will wane have the hunger to win superleague with us the same way he wanted it with Wigan? Powell has never won it and will want it as much as we do IMO. Tony Smith won it with Leeds but he didn't with us so the major draw people have with Wane is flawed in my eyes.

I do like Sean Wane and wouldn't be disappointed, but having missed out on Watson my next choice would be Powell in terms of coaches who get the best from their squads and budgets.

Wane has only ever coached 1 club team - Wigan. The man is Wigan through and through. Would he bring the same desire to another club?

Don't really see this as a problem with professional sportsmen. They're not quite like fans.

It's a job to most of them and the cost of doing it badly is their job and reputation. It being a club that were once their rivals seems of secondary importance to ability and personal determination/resilience/motivation.

I see Daryl Powell has just announced he’s leaving Cas at the end of the year.

I believe Lam is only contracted until the end of this coming season.

Powell is one if the more accomplished British coaches currently. He has developed Cas into a good team on limited resources, he should be able to improve with better training and financial resources available. The main concerns I have are for some reason many Yorkshire players and coaches find it difficult to perform as well on t'other side of the hill and also as pointed out by others he is a miserable bugger, especially after a loss. Whether he joins us remains to be seen, if he does I hope he gets us to the highest level and his miserable face will be rarely seen.

If he brings Jake Trueman with him, it'll make it a little easier to swallow. I don't feel confident at all of grand final succes under Powell.
