Aye, he seemed to think that if it clashed, it would affect TV ratings.
Little does he know that the audience is on the other end of the spectrum, seeing as though the X-Factor is watched by a few million morons who probably think "boxing" is when you are packing something away.

I heard he wanted to watch England in the changing room before the match to help him get into 'the zone'.

| There's some very ordinary heavyweights around these days. Frank Bruno could probably have cleaned up the belts if he was still around.
In fact it's a shame Tyson wasn't about 5 years younger, because even an ageing Tyson at the back end of his career would have despatched those two who fought last night.

Have I missed the sarcasm, or are you saying boxing fans are up there with the most intellectual in our society? I think they are probably at the same end of the spectrum, just a different version of thicko.

That would put them alongside rugby league fans then. The intellectuals of society follow cricket, golf, tennis, horse racing and rugby union.

.....Haye would have murdered the Tyson from the era you are describing....Even Danny bleedin' Williams knocked out that washed up bum.
As for Bruno??....Haye would have demolished him in 3 rounds....Old Glass jaw Frank was basically a smaller version of Valuev...

I don't think we have.
I don't think for one minute he's Tyson class, Tyson in his pomp, he was special. It's a shame he tarnished a legend a tad carrying on and being beaten by bums when he was clearly done.
I think Haye has the potential to unify the belts and become the best heavyweight on the planet, definately. You can only beat what's in front of you, and all that.
The Klitchko brothers (sp), if he beats them, no arguments is there, he walks off into the night, his pockets bulging, knowing that he beat every decent heavyweight on the planet. If Tyson had been around, he wouldn't have dodged him that's for sure, he'd have given the public the fight they wanted (whilst lining his pockets), given who's around now, he'll continue to try and put on attractive contests.

You can't compare boxers from different eras.....Let's remember that Tyson's era wasn't exactly packed with great fighters. Yes, he often looked mighty impressive, but I don't think the likes of Bruno, Tubbs, Pinklon Thomas, etc, were much different to what we have now.
One thing is certain though, the Tyson from the Douglas defeat onwards was a pale shadow, and any decent heavyweight would have beat him, which is exactly what happened....Haye is a decent fighter, his cruiserweight record backs that up, and he certainly would have seen off the Tyson that Sally refered to.

| “So if you really sit back and think when was the last champion like him, it really was when Muhammad Ali was fighting. Ali was able to capture the imagination, not just of sports fans, but people all over the world. And I do think David has those same ingredients and tonight I do think he showed that he’s a clever fighter and a smart fighter.”
I know this is from Haye's US promoter, but FFS

I agree after Douglas Tyson was finished...but what he did before that will never be seen again......
Many people couldnt separate Valuev and haye however many couldnt separate Michael spinks and Tyson in1988 .
then Tyson battered a fighter that had never been beaten in fact had never been put down and he finished him in 91 seconds ....amazing stuff..
however what has happened since then with Tyson is sheer madness his effing and jeffing his stupid outbursts and tattoed face...it was a waste of a talent on the grandest scale in my opinion....

Quite right...That was probably Tyson at his peak, probably helped by the fact that Spinks was visibly $h!tting himself before the first bell!!!...
To be honest, that was Tyson's undoing...He would often have a huge advantage before the first bell, because he cut such a frightening figure, and most fighters would simply try to survive, rather than win.
However, once Douglas defeated him, that cloak of invincibility disappeared and all that was left was a bit of a bully figure, which was sadly exposed in the biting-the-ear incident with Evander Holyfield....
