Ratchford is a better fullback imo, he's played on a year too long, we don't need him next year, we have ratchford, briers, myler, gob, just be wasting a space on the salary cap when we could bring someone who is useful in

You're off your head if you think Ratchford is currently a better FB than Hodgo.

What he brings to the team is unquestionable IMO. Ratchford, whilst improving all the time and a great player, is no where near yet.

Everyone has there opinions, you might not agree with me, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it...his mistakes and defence are costing us too often, he doesn't link into the line as much anymore, and his kick returns are poor, ratchford on the other hand, loves to run the ball, his sidestep and pace is deadly, any chance Hodgson gets, he passes, we need a fullback with pace, look at all the clubs in SuperLeague, they have fullbacks with pace and it destroys teams down the edge, (tomkins, handbury, hardaker, lomax, escare...)

Why are we above most of them then? Of that list, Sam is the only one I would take above Brett.

But Why are we behind Wigan? Oh yeah, they have a fullback that runs at the line and courses problems we don't

i have to agree, id have ratchford over hodgson any day of the week. hodgson is a turnstile in defence, and ratchford is more dangerous in attack.

While i am not coming from the 'Hodgson is finished' camp, i would be more than happy going into next season with Ratchford as the clubs starting fullback.

He is getting better and better all the time and he will make an excellent No1.

You're quite right Chrissy , everyone is entitled to an opinion..The only problem is though is that this is exactly word for word your brothers opinion infact every word you write is word for word what he says ... You are allowed to form your own thoughts on things you know ..
Ohh by the way can you let us know about all these defensive errors of hodgsons that are costing us far too often ? Ratch will make a very good full back one day but he's still got plenty to learn .. Holdsworths kicking game Mullered ratchfords poor positional play the last time we played hull , thats one area where he has a lot to learn .. but he's being taught by Hodgson so i'm sure he will sort that out in his game ..But i'm sure you get my drift about lots to learn ?

How are they costing us too often? He has played 21games and we have lost 3 of them(Saints(H) Leeds & KR(A)).
When a break is made his one on one tacking is usually excellent. He may not have the speed or agility of Ratchford but his positioning is the best in the league. The best example of this was the Hull(H) game.he was badly missed as majority of Hulls kicks bounced before Ratchford got to them meaning we started our sets in a poor position meaning the forwards took longer to get back. Ratchford still had a lot to learn.

You can tell who's about 12 on here. I don't know whether Hodgson's body has another year in it, but he's well worth his place now. I honestly think we're a top side because we have the three best rugby brains in the competition: Hodgson, Briers and Michael Monas. Happily Ratchford, Myler and Currie are developing nicely as replacement on-field leaders.
