Well it is your cup final.
Can just imagine Betts saying [i"Lads, lads.....don't worry about making the playoffs or having a good run in the cup this year, could maybe even go so far as to don't worry if we get relegated........the single aim this season is to beat Warrington."[/i

You St Helens fans are the biggest bores in Rugby League.
This always your year business; I'd say most Warrington fans are very pessimistic and love a bit of doom and gloom. God knows we've seen enough down the years. Boasting every season about being our year is not something I'd say we (including the management and players) do, although I'd admit some of the pundits say it from time to time.
When's the last time it was your year?

Always thought this is a bit of a naff chant, and a bit rich given it usually comes from fans of 5 time grand final losers Saints.
That said, I don't think we will be threatening this unwanted record anytime soon.

| We don't need to panic, everything at the club is still in place.
Surprised no-one has mentioned the absence of Grix, he was my player of the season last year after Higham.

| funny that they sang swing low when there not even english, the always our year chant is about as original as y warrington.
i think u find wire fans are boares never happy no more, unless we put 30 points on a team.
silverware isnt won in february, and there a long way to go. if we beat leeds next week then all u lot slagging off the players will be saying how gd we are. lets judge this tea in september not after 1 game.
their was decent spells in that second half and saints defence was immense so it not all doom and gloom.

not a fan of barmy army. There's nothing barmy at all about the average warrington fan anymore. But it's not supposed to be witty and who said it was original.
Saints fancy themselves as being comedians. Must be the scouse overspill influence. Brendan Burns had them lot summed up.

I remember everyone saying that about a newly-arrived Matt King..... It took him a while to settle to life in England but look what happened there.
There's lots of panic and melodrama since last night. It's the first game of the season with some big personnel losses and new players coming in, not to mention the injuries we've started the season with. I think some people just need to calm down a bit.

Yes, we lost 5 on the bounce. And you're right, it is an unwanted record.
However, we still have 4 wins in our 9 Grand Finals for a win rate of just over 44%
Which is FAR superior to Wire's 0% win rate in Grand Finals.

I think that's actually a good point. We've had a lot of 'new' fans since winning a trophy or two. I often hear them moaning in the South Stand the minute we're not tonking a team by a few tries every game. I often wonder to myself if they were watching Warrington 10 years ago. I doubt it. The fact is, even on our bad days recently it's still lightyears better than the dark days way back when. Remember almost getting relegated? Sadly we're going to find some fans will bemoan anything other than a huge win every game and finals left, right and . If we don't continually achieve that the newer fans will probably start dropping away.

| Some very funny comments here. I thought that someone would say 'Chris meet Stefan. Stefan meet Chris' under the bomb. But I don't blame Chris for coming in from the wing when the opposing centre has left the player in front of him grasping thin air. Also House got through a h3ll of a lot of work. No wonder he looked shattered. 40 odd tackles. People also forget that MM was brought in as a half back. Just observations on the comments.... We were still total cr9p and looked totally disorganised. I honestly don't think I've ever been as angry about a wire performance.

| Just one point on M. Monaghan. Yes, he came here as a half-back and probably thought he could make it as a half-back in the "weaker" English comp, having been moved to hooker to accomodate Matt Orford @ Manly.
Despite the obvious lack of flair in the position Cullen persisted and paid for his stubbornness with his job.
Monaghan was moved to hooker and became the finest hooker in the English comp throughout that period. His pace from acting half and distribution were a key factor in our success; sadly, the 2014 model looks to have the same issues as the 2013 - the heart is willing but the body is gone and he now a passenger.
Whatever the pros and cons of using Monaghan in preference for say, Dwyer, at hooker he will never be the answer at half-back, because even when he was fully-fit, fresh and at the peak of his powers he never was.

Well, to be honest, I know a lot of Saints fans and they are all sound people and are very knowledgeable about the sport and Saints, one guy in particular.
However the Saints fans that seem to always fester on this board and bring nothing to the table by way of a debate are just boring!
