So a meaningful play off game is likely to get a lower attendance than any of the meaningless weekly rounds . How ironic. I can't see the tickets being any cheaper than normal ,after all sky tell us this is what the league is all about.

The reasons why these games get lower attendances are simple:
1) Some season ticket holders won't pay extra for matches that aren't included in that ticket
2) The short notice means a lot of people will have other commitments
It is an issue every year at play off time, but that doesn't mean Saturday isn't a very big game, because it definitely is.

The police and stewards are in a no win situation today. If nothing happens they will be accused of "scaremongering". If it kicks off and they havent prepared it will be "no lessons learnt". If it kicks off and they take robust action it will be "over reacting". I think the one advantage they might have for stamping down on trouble is, in all fairness, the backing of the majority of the fans of both clubs. |
