Some great ones. Catch the original "The Girl with the dragon tattoo", not the remake.
Irreversible as well, similar to memento in that it goes backwards, not for faint hearted however.

I watched The girl with dragon tattoo last night.Excellent film really enjoyed it.

Battleship Potempkin is worth a watch if you've a spare afternoon too...

Not as strong a stomach as you'll need for Serbian Film. Only heard of it because of the IGN UK Podcast (which is great by the way) and a brief glance of the Wikipedia entry shows why it has been banned and why I'll never watch it. I only mention it here a) because it is said to make Irreversible look like Home Alone and b) the filmmakers argue it is some sort of allegory for life in Serbia. I would advise anyone even seeking out the Wikipedia entry to do so with extreme caution. I also wouldn't comment on the detail in this thread.

That apart, it's impact has been ruined a bit by the countless p155 takes but Downfall is a great film.

I have just read the synopsis. Why anyone would want to watch that extreme, de-based vileness under the guise of entertainment is a mystery to me. They must be a little sick, maybe more.

At the other end of the European films spectrum, how could I have forgotten the beautiful Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources?

Just read the wiki entry and i am astounded that a film like that even exists. Thankfully it's a film i will never watch or want to.

Ah, Claude Berri! Great films. If you like those, find 'Germinal' with Gerard Depardieu, Miou-Miou and Renaud, by the same director.

I forgot Les Valseuses- fantastic film.

I once, slightly bizarrely, took a bird on a date to watch Les 400 Coups by Truffaut. It took her three more months to dump me, but at least she was more cultured than when I found her...though she said rugby league was rubbish, so maybe she was just irredemable anyway

Dead Snow is...ok...gets a little silly towards end.
