| Quote ="lefty goldblatt"I couldn't give a stiff one, who's name is on our shirts, as long as the club brokers a commensurate deal, relative to our exposure..
All this Billy Big Biscuits talk of Fly Emirates being our shirt sponsor for the last few years, is merely just trying to goad supporters of rival clubs, saying "our sponsor's name is bigger than yours". I give less than one love, as long as Wire are getting a decent amount of dosh.
We are so far down Fly Emirates food chain, we barely register.
Picture the scene. You've just landed @ Manchester after your fortnight in Costa Packet, and the first thing you see before you get to customs, is a 20 foot advert with "Super" Bennie Westwood evading a tackle......nah, thought not. It's going to be Kylian Mbappe scoring for PSG, isn't it.
We're so far off FE's radar, it's untrue. I doubt their CEO has even watched Rugby League, let alone us.
Let's just get the best deal possible'"
I bet Naymar would throw one of his hissy fits if it wasn't a poster of him

| The link that Duckie posted alludes to how the deal was brokered. If the District Sales Manager for the North West of England and the Midlands is the person fronting the deal form their side (even if Maurice Flanagan might have had a word in someones ear), plus her quotes about promoting to the "wider north-west region", it looks pretty clear that the NW&Midlands sales department has their marketing budget, and has opted to spend some of it on sponsoring a sports team that has exposure within her area. It looks like a decent bit of business, as she's solely interested in growing the brand and sales within her own territory, and it probably gives decent return for that spend.
Compare that to the Emerates PSG deal press releases, which has quotes from their "Executive vice president of passenger sales worldwide"
I'm under no illusion that the Emerates deal, while a prestigious global brand, and worth a fair chunk of change too, is ultimately, under the hood, no different to any other regional level sponsor, ie Bensons for Beds.

As Alfie said elsewhere, this deal was a 7 figure sum over four years, so minimum of £1million. The size of it (as Duckie suggested) would surely have taken it well outside the scope of a regional sales office hence the 'Warrington connection', now deceased. I recall it was a major coup for the club at the time and if Emirates have continued their sponsorship I very much doubt it will be at the previous level. Unfortunately.

Emirates have big problems at the moment, so it’s almost certain they won’t be spending such a figure without a guaranteed profile from it. I will be surprised (pleasantly) if they have renewed as I expected them to consolidate their sponsorships to the major stuff. Maybe the crisis manager recently brought in has seen it as a worthy investment as it reaches hundreds of thousands of TV viewers at a reasonable cost compared to club RU.

| Wasn't the Fly Emirates deal largely based on payment in kind of 25 * Business class return flights to Australia (about £6K per ticket)

This article 'suggests' the deal to be worth £300k per year.

There is mention of Emirates flying us to Aus here
www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyl ... olves.html
The Dubai-based airline will also fly the Wolves to their pre-season training camp in Australia in January.
Maybe the 'official airline partner' covered the cost of the flights over the 4 year deal?

Ross Kemp is a fanny. They need to spend some time in the company of Bear Grylls. They need to know what its like to be exhausted and down on your knees. They need to install team spirit and have an attitude of we will not be defeated. They need to understand what its like to be on your knees and come back and be victorious. Only when they understand this can you achieve great things.

| Where did we do pre-season in 2011 which every one holds up as the glory year although we didn’t even make a final?

| i dont think ive seen anyone hold up 2011 as a glory year..... i think its held up as it was the best team we had. It was certainly a candidate for the best rugby ive ever seen Warrington play.
There was certainly no glory in seeing that team come out of the season without a trophy... if anything it's been held up as 'if Smith couldn't win the GF win this team, what chance does he have with this current one'... which wasn't entirely fair, as all teams were stronger in 2011... Still.

| Where was the pre-season that year?
2011 is the equivalent of the Morley tackle on Harrison Hansen. Impressive but we still lost. And the Langer ball steal on Martin.
Small time mentality.

| I think we only started warm weather training in 2010 -
2010 - Tenerife
2011 - Tenerife
2012 - Australia
2013 - Tenerife
2014 - Australia
2015 - Tenerife
2016 - Tenerife
2017 - Tenerife
There are many reasons why we've played crap some years, class in others, sometimes won silverware, sometimes not, and lost a few GFs.
But going somewhere for warm weather training pre-season probably ranks about 37th in that list.

Yes, he is chief Scout. However, someone posted lets get the boys training with the SAS. Somebody else then said bring in Ross Kemp, which i then said Bear Grylls. Bear Grylls was at least with 21 SAS for a time and may have an understanding of training in difficult climates, where as Ross Kemp was a Para, at least he was when he was in Emmerdale!!

| yeah but Bear Grylls cheated in one of his SAS training missions on the Breacon Beacons as i recall from reading his book....( took a short cut and hid from the officers iirc.)
had he got found that would have been him and his mate booted out...
thats not the kind of attitude we want.......
I remember something Mal Menninga mentioned in his stint at Saints that at training they were often Sent around St Helens for a run but some of the Lads knew a shortcut that passed by a water outlet so they'd casually take the short cut, put Water on their heads and turn up at the finish panting and soaked as if they'd done the full distance ...and the coaches were non the wiser....
that'd be Bear Grylls as well....
plus he's money Mad he get a sniff of Morans Money and that would be another season in the Red....
I'd rather Chaddy take em running on the Dunes at Southport.....

I'd like to see them just running up and down the sand dunes at St Anne's or Formby over and over.
That'll soon get their fitness up.
