OR Sculthorpe... he could come in, save the day, then go and coach saints when poundland Jack Black (copyright morriseyisawire) gets the hook.

| Quote ="Jimathay"Had we won the CC, I would have said that was a success.
That is rightly or wrongly what the definition of success is, in the competitions we compete in.
We can comfort ourselves with the fact we've been the "best" team in the competition on a couple of occasions with the LLS, but success is GF and CC wins.
Walk away as losing finalists in the two main competitions that count, great to be there, better than those that only made it to the semis. But success? No.
Win one or both? Of course that's a success.'"
Of course I wished we had won the GF and the CC, but, we didn't. My point was that having beaten Oldham, Widnes and Wakefield, the comparative (distorted IMO) value given to us beating Hull FC in a tight game as opposed to a 30 game season is an unfair one

| The league leaders shield only means something to the teams that wins it and a little Presteigne for coming first.
The challenge cup is a great trophy to win and a nice day out I guess but it's not the grand final and it's not a win,
I had hoped that the cc wins would spur us on and we could potentially have won a few grand finals by now.
That's not the case we still have not won the gf and there have been similarities in the mannor of our losses in the grand finals and in the cc cup defeat against hull
My squad for next season
1 New FB unless Johnson improves 100%
2 lineham
3 new centre
4 new centre
5 new winger
6 ratchford
7 Patton
8 hill
9 Clark
10 cooper
11 sims
12. Currie
13 westerman
Subs
Savellio
Cosby
Cooper
Dwyer
Let the rest go. Just not good enough or not likely to improve all of a sudden

As a minimum.
Sims can be replaced for me.
Jury is out on Cooper and Crosby
And I think we need something else in the half backs.
Depressing. Its a full rebuild.

My squad for next season
1 New FB unless Johnson improves 100% [iApproves 100% in one season? He looks good for 2-3 years time[/i
2 lineham [iNot dreadful but given how far behind the 'original Lineham' he is its hard to see how he escapes your blanket criticism[/i
3 new centre [iYes, but who and where from?? Very few good centres in SL[/i.
4 new centre
5 new winger
6 ratchford [iRatchford did not deliver as main play-maker before and I can't see him doing it now.[/i
7 Patton N[iot enough flair. Could be a steady influence if we found a true play-maker ( e.g. Chris Sandow with a mature attititude and moral compass)[/i
8 hill
9 Clark
10 cooper
11 sims [iSims is enthusiastic and probably inspirational but as a prop he breaks few tackles. Contract up this year, anyway.[/i
12. Currie
13 westerman
Subs
Savellio
Cosby
Cooper
Dwyer

No Toby King?! More than held his own when played.

I agree and wouldn't be so quick to ditch Hughes either perhaps Currie could play centre as there seems to be a general dearth in this position?

| I thought about king but I don know I look to successful teams over my life time they have always had one of the best centres in the league if not world and right now king does not fit into that category, Hughes is just a poor mans currie or Bateman sims or savelio offer more size and savellio has a bit more about him skill wise, and sims would be taking a wage cut for any kind of extension so would be reasonable value for money until an appropriate replacement can be found
Maybe let em all go was slight over reaction in the anger I was feeling but there are certainly a lot of players that are considered first teamed that are just not up to the job and commanding a reasonable amount of salary cap the king brothers philbin Wilde Johnson still have a fair bit to learn and coming in to rest and cover injuries will be better playing in a settled side with quality team mates with experience to help them progress.
The idea of moving savellio currie to centres again I would argue that we will end up with too many utility players that are good in a few positions but great in none, if needs must due to injuries but not on a permanent basis.
