| Having read, re-read this thread, considered all the arguments and done some research into the effect of strip colours on a team's psychological ability to perform at their optimum levels, I am still utterly unable to see the point in any of this nor to raise my interest levels above the kind of levels I reserve for Michael Buble songs.
Can we get back to normality and agree that the reason we didn't win on Saturday was clearly because of the phases of the moon allayed to my inability to locate my lucky 1986 premiership underwear? (tatty, slightly less elasticity than on the great day but lucky nonetheless).

Precisely and btw what colour is the moon? I'm not, you'll be relieved to know, interested in what the colour your under crackers are....unless they are predominantly white then the duck's case is proven

I recall that 86 kit being predominantly white too...
Just another coincidence.

| I do.
However I ask the question as there are so many coincidences but the opposition I get does little else than support the theory however bizarre it sounds.
Should it give amusement then bonus.

In the interests of the scientific aspects of this thread, I can confirm that my "undercrackers", by which I assume you mean my y-fronts, are generally black and sometimes blue if I'm feeling extravagant. The 1986 one's, however, were a much loved union jack style which never failed to impress.
White "undercrackers" would be a disaster just waiting to happen, particularly at my age.

| Come on, lads. This is all a bit too intellectually highbrow, isn't it?
I'm told Brian Cox and Steven Hawking come on here, to get their fix of RL banter. We don't want to lose them, thinking that we're all a load of chinstroking Oxbridge types, debating the winningmost colours in sport.
Let's start singing "Get your astrolabes out for the lads" and they might think different.

You have to go back to the JPS to see Wire win a final in a strip that wasn't one that incorporated a substantial amount of white.
Wire as a marginally tipped team or favourites in recent years have slipped up at major semis or finals wearing just P&B, but favourite or not, wearing some white we faired much better when in similar games.
This season is much easier to win the GF than ever before due to injuries and restructuring with Leeds Hudds and to a lesser extent Pies and Saints.
It really is a two team competition this year and still we can't win a final were a margin is tight.
If there was evidence to suggest white in a strip can give you a slight edge, you would think in arguably one of the poorest level of SL competition ever, we could at least win this one, even wearing pink!

| Quote ="rubber duckie"I've touched on this before and it may seem rediculus but there is an case here to say that Wire are arguably better when wearing a white strip with a half decent side.
Over the recent generations I can only recall Wire picking up the odd trophy through the barron years of the 80s until present wearing a strip that has a generous percentage of white, with one exception being the (easy winnable) Lancs cup in 89/90.
This rule of thumb has been looked at in footballing circles and red is a dominant colour over blue.
Hull wearing a much white strip are now league leading and already CC champions with a team that I consider not particularly great.'"

I think that was down to the fact he had a red V on his shirt rather than it being predominantly white!!

So is the theory ...
Teams with white shirts perform better than none-white if we discount league performance and concentrate on cup finals and discount all contrary results of teams succeeding in either in none white shirts?

| No the theory is.
When when the team standards are marginal between them, Wire fair better when they play with a strong addition of white in the kit as opposed to having none.
74 white win the CC. Smashing a strong Fev.
75 favs CC to win, quite disappointing.
I guess it could be like home advantage. The pitch is the same size so why fair better at home than away?
Perhaps in the mind, perhaps it's because we can identify a fellow player in the game clearer wearing mainly white over block blue?
You try and spot a biker head down, throttle on over a high viz sat up right!

| Are the players coached in this theory ? That must be why the man in the white hat always came out on top in old western films.
