I'm hopeful we can improve again next year but I'm also hopeful we can win 1 or maybe 2 trophies this year. We're definitely in the hunt, we need key players as fresh as possible so wrapping up a top 4 finish as quickly as possible will be key then who knows.

and then again I'm of the opinion that there's nothing wrong with a thread on next season now, a half term report so to speak. Have we improved on last year, which areas do we still need to improve, or get cover for if people are moving on is valid whether we win n'ewt or the treble....just ask the Leeds Club

I can't recall who said Hughes out and I'm not for trawling back, but, agree MD it was a bit off piste for me. Hughes Currie and Westerman is a decent back row who have the potential to be really top drawer. It's just a pity they are all getting on a bit....

That's like staying in a hand of poker despite knowing you've not got a hand because you've already put a load of money in the pot waiting for a card that never came up. You should always fold. The analogy being that we made a big mistake paying big money for Lineham but that doesn't mean we should suffer another three years with that carthorse on the wing. Cut our losses now - Denny is the real deal.

On Lineham, I've not written him off yet (granted I wasn't at the game today) and I doubt the club has written him off either - unless he had made it known he's looking to leave.

Nothing wrong with buying and paying decent money for other clubs players I'm just a bit uneasy with going back to the same club twice....It seems a touch unfair. ..but if we don't you'd think Wigan will do it, so fair enough I suppose. ..

Wigan don't need him as they will have Burgess and Mandredi on the wings next year.

Perhaps the lack of right hand side defence would not be as noticeable if the team as a whole was not putting itself under as much pressure due to handling errors & cheap penalties. Add to that the amount of ground some of these teams make on our defensive sets & we are being left with more ground to cover when we get the ball back.

It's peanuts to Simon Moran. I'm confident he'd spend a lot more if he thought it would help the club.

Indeed, and regardless of Morans wealth, the club is running at a profit year on year, and has been despite transfer fee outlays in recent years. Made a profit despite paying out £185k for Clark for example. This year we have paid out almost £300k on transfer fees for Westerman and Lineham, be interesting to see the accounts for 2015 against a backdrop of a poor season on the field and big outlays in terms of investments in the stadium & club shop etc.

Our profit to the end Nov 2015 was £63k, despite a fall in income from a number of areas (apart from sponsorship), so that was still pretty good.

The net cost of transfers was £137k. That could be Linehams fee which I believe was £140k, less some minor income from players moving out. I don't know what Westerman cost was. Has anybody got a reference to this ?
