| When he was at Saints I used to dread him being tackled, never seen a player get so many injuries in the whole time I have watched the game.

| I heard on Saturday that GW may still be moving on but it's subject to other signings and he may not be the only one either.
All rumours but may have some truth in it.
Watching GW during the games (8 maybe 10) he's played, you half expect him to stay down after almost every tackle he's involved in. Ronnie Duane and Phil Sumner were the last players I thought of in a similar way. In fairness to him he played at Wakefield when he was clearly not fit but we had no one else and it didn't stop him trying to push up in support.

| The really odd thing about Wheeler is the fact he always seems to get unrelated, different problems. It isn't even a chronic recurring issue.

| Quote ="Snaggletooth""Although I probably would prefer to give King or Patton the game time if I'm being honest".
Never mind his contract reflecting anything, with up coming talent why do we need to keep a dead leg like Wheeler at the club? The above quote says it all.
The current clear out reflects what we need to know and that is players at the end of careers, injury prone players and those with little talent and/or showing no talent have to be released, there is no place for sentiment in a professional set up. Some of these guys may have been great servants, may have broken scoring records but when its time its time. that's why great teams win and continue winning for long periods. We on the other always have next year!'"
I agree about Wheeler and sentiment. However, I don't think that a major clear out, whilst exciting and perhaps justifiable given our performance levels over the last two seasons is necessarily a good thing.
Great teams IMO win and win continually over long periods because of succession planning and strategy. Build a great team with a range of age and experience and bring in 3 or 4 new bodies into the squad every season whether that's club trained or bought to freshen things up, or continue with or add quality.
We are where we are and perhaps it's needed, but, we hung on too long with our 'great team' gambled they would win it. we didn't and we're still suffering because of it.

I'm not disagreeing with you UR but I will point out Cas and KR both on successive years have made a CC final from points of having near zero playing personnel after decades of no finals whatsoever...!
I think it's excepted both clubs had successful seasons....
However, had Warrington made the CC final, would we be considering it a successful season?
Personally I think it would be little more than spraying Fabreeze on a turd. I think deep down the best thing that happened to Wire all season was that thrashing at Headingly.

Cas and KR fans can let us know what success means to them, as it's subjective when you get beyond winning the ultimate prize which is a matter of fact.
If we got to Wembley and suffered like KR did on the day, then we wouldn't have thought it was a successful season. If we had won it this year then bizarrely the reaction might have been different to 2009, we won the cup we are on the way up, not we won the cup it's not the GF and it's only papering over the cracks.
Sorry for my part in the thread drift and bringing Association Football into it, but, Liverpool in the 70's and United in the 90's early 00's had succession planning off to a tee and that gave them the continued success that Snaggletooth mentioned and we all crave.
We didn't manage that feat through one reason or another after having set it up and having our expectations raised post the victory v Hudd's So yes your Fabreeze metaphor works

| Boots'N'All just announced an undisclosed fee by an unknown club as been paid to Salford for him, then went on to say is it the rumour about him going to Saints or could it be us because of letting Myler go.

| Don't think a decision has been made on Wheeler yet - I'd assume he's going though.

| Confirmed to Saints by Koukash on Twitter. An interesting signing, not one to shout about however.
Konrad Hurrell being shopped around SL by NZW apparently. He'd be a star in SL. Warrington in for him perhaps?

Did he not sign a new three year contract earlier this year?

Both A and B plus wondering whether he'll he get through the warm up unscathed.

He did, but seems he's out of favour. He was dropped to the NSW Cup team this season and spent plenty of time on the bench as well. NZW have recently signed Blake Ayshford so looks like he could be available. There are plenty of rumours about that Hurrell's management have repeatedly asked for a release, which was what prompted them to sign Ayshford.

Do you think we could release him via a medieval catapult over the North stand, we could have a comp to see who fires the shot
