Given the apparent dearth of real talent, even though we are down to 12 teams (yes I know Leigh are full time and it should be one game etc before we get a flood from our regular visitors) but wouldn't clubs just end up paying more for average players rather than keeping or growing the selection pool?'"
Exactly, you'll have a pool of NRL players queuing now and only here for the wedge.Reportedly Morley was on £250k a year,so I don't see how a marquee player being non-homegrown £175k (off the salary cap) helps your corner.

It's not £175k off the cap in reality tho is it. You can pay the player what you want but only counts to £100k or £175k on the cap.
You could pay inglis £1m per season if you wanted.

| Scott Dureau, Corey Patterson and David Taylor from the Gold Coast titans would be my ideal list. Quality prop, second rower and halfback.

Christ almighty you're given an un-limited budget and you come up with a NRL reject half-back, a Hull KR and Salford level NRL ex-retiree and the perfect example of wasted potential.
At least now we know who the club used to scout Asotasi.

| I fully support the marquee allowance and introduced sensibly will add and improve SL. However through rumour and speculation Wolves are chasing same quality players as the Rhinos (also possibly Saints And Wigan as well). I'm thinking of Cronk, Widdop, Burgess and NRL props! I guess some of us could be disappointed?

| Well obviously Shaun Johnson or Greg Inglis will be top of my list or a big coup from rugby union (as in, not an ex-Rugby League player) to really make a statement. But let's be realistic here, the world's best players aren't going to leave the elite rugby competition of either code (NRL) to come to Super League and union stars will have been sufficiently brainwashed into thinking Rugby League is e.
So despite that, you're still looking at the type of player that's been coming over here - journeymen and players coming to the end of their careers or players with something wrong with them (discipline issues/bad rep). Just that now they can be higher profile and we can pay them more than the type that's recently been coming over (Ashton Sims/Luke Walsh - good here but not big names over there) other than Todd Carney.
Cooper Cronk is more realistic now or someone like Blake Ferguson.
I've never seen a team crying out for leading half back with a good kicking game as much as we are at the moment. So for me, with Gidley coming in at full back next season we can move Ratchford to 6 (that is the number on his back!) and [now realistically bring in someone like Cronk.
Although anyone for Sam Burgess by the way? Get him away from that dirge of 4 hit-ups and 5 tackles per game and back to 23 hit-ups and 35 tackles per game! That might be something that could happen now. He's so wasted in that sport it's painful!

Kyle Ea$tmomd is very very good player and went Union to early. He was going to be the next super league star Imo. He has everything in his game, he's fast, rapid of of the mark, great strength for someone so short, good hands etc.
He can play fullback, centre or the halves, maybe even 9. Id love him back at saints even tho he's a money grabber who sh*t on saints with his atititude.

| Peoples lists are a bit unrealistic. Most of the players people pick play for either the national team and/or state of origin. So unless they are money grabbing shallow players I can't see them giving up all of that for a big payday as they are already on big contracts over there. If it was realistic I would take johnathan thurston but I really can't see a player like that coming over here. I hope I'm proved wrong but I can't see it happening myself.

| Not that I believe we were ever on for Cronk, but that means nothing. If he wants out, he'll get out. Just like Hock Locke and Higham and him who just joined Leeds.
I think we may still keep Myler yet.

| Not sure how that stops rumours. Basically the Storm are saying he's going nowhere; standard fare before a player moves. Doesn't mean he WILL move of course. And even then Leeds would have just as much chance as us, and probably more if the money on offer was equal.

| It's Sandow we've made the bid for and not Cronk.
Rumour about he had signed but there's also a rumour Myler is wanting to stay after interest from Catalans last month. I believe the club is letting him choose want he wants to do, contract for him if he wants it.
Slightly off topic...
Heard about talk of Charnley is being moved on, and there was interest from us but I find that hard to believe with the current for of Gene, and Kev getting a contract extension plus Lineham.
Still is no secret Wane doesn't even talk to Charnley so it looks like one of them is going to be moved on next season.
