Question 1 : Have you actually seen the incident?
Question 2 : Do you know what part of the human body the shoulder is?
If the answer to the above two questions is yes then I cant see what the hell you are questioning

You really are a whopper.
You make a tackle with shoulder contact then hit and stick. McIlorum made no attempt to complete the tackle.
Answer the question; what did he use to make contact? Simple question, simple answer.

How can it be a shoulder charge when he didn't use his shoulder?
It was a check, he didn't turn his body at all. He ran straight towards him and hit him facing forwards on which would have been a perfect tackle had he still got the ball. The ball had gone and he got there too late hence he will have to possibly answer a charge for a late hit.
If you honestly think it was a shoulder charge then you are letting the defeat cloud your judgement or you don't have a clue.

Exactly! Answer your own question what did he make contact with that seems to be so vicious to you! When I got home I looked at it again and I’m not saying it was a bit of nowt, but it wasn’t as bad on his part as some are trying to make out.

I think what Mark is trying to say is , Whats the part of your body that connects your neck to your arm ? Thats the point that made contact ?

The part of the eye that is connected to the brain doesn’t seem to be making contact in some people. Bad tackle yes, shoulder, no.

| Semantics.
It was a late tackle that caused a player to be stretchered off with a whiplash injury.
McIllorum has plenty of previous for this.
I was wondering why nobody has ever "snapped his pole", as I believe these attacks to the legs are known within the Wigan camp, but then realised that he hardly ever gets tackled.
Just four carries last night.
It's the hardest sport on the planet and opportunities are plentiful to hurt your opponent within the laws of the game.
McIllorum should have been brought to account by the Disciplinary a long time ago.
I'd have no qualms about this particular individual being served his justice on the pitch by the method of his own conduct.
And this isn't sour grapes, Wood should have seen red and that wasn't the only decision that went our way last night.

| I would love to know about this tackle technique that involves making initial contact with something other than the shoulder. Clearly it must be a Wigan thing.

Ben Harrison: knee ligaments
Chris Bridge: ankle
Two of our most influential players. Funny that.

Were these caused by cannonball tackles? If so do you know when in the game roughly?

I like the way they operate with ball in hand, organised but creative. But I echo your sentiment regards their tactics without the ball. But they are essentially doing something which all teams aim to do - slow the play the ball down and control the ruck, they just do it better than most, sometimes with tactics within the rules, sometimes borderline.

Wigan seemed to have cleaned up the third man in late chopping at the joints but it appears to be back now with a vengeance. Shocking that something is being done on the field that can injure a fellow professional.

Was that the one where three Warrington players held the Wigan player and Wood beat him with a crow bar from behind

| I have to say the Wood v Pettybourne "biff" was rather lame; I think they both got sin-binned so they could go and find a mirror to practice their timing against. My mother shows more raw aggression every Sunday finding her favourite pew at church.

| Walmsley sent off for Saints v Hudds for the kind of tackle McCollorum would blush about. RL disciiplinary panel really need to get a grip because we now have another player (Luke Robinson) being helped off the field, and yesterday of course Laithwaite exiting on a stretcher.
RL has always been the toughest sport on the planet, but also the most honest, and that needs to be preserved.

I don't think so Suzy woozy... it was two blokes looking each other in the eye, one giving the other verbals and coping one on the chin for it......... that is not assault on a rugby league pitch, you should know that having played the game yourself.
I know all the lads I played with would have no problem someone looking you in the eye and letting you have a taste...its honest..harsh and brutal........ but honest.
getting one late high and while your back is turned, or 3rd man in and low at the knee joint is not honest its a cheap house tactic and its a well known Wigan Tactic....
Wigan Used to be famous for playing the best brand of Rugby League in this country now they aren't.

| These are the worse set of officials I've ever seen.
We have video technology, and they still fluff it up
They're "looked after" better than they've ever been (in terms of meetings/training/pay), and they still fluff it up
They have an extra 2 officials, when TV cameras aren't there, and they still fluff it up.
At times, I pine for the days of
Thompson
Lindop
Whitfield
Campbell
(I hate myself for typing that).
I HATED these b@st@rds with a passion, who were some of the most corrupt onanists you'll ever see, but, when bungs weren't given, they refereed well.
Today's lot are just plain incompetant

| Thing is, coaches and players have clearly cottoned onto the fact that the officials seem prepared to let almost anything go in the name of speed of the game and are, frankly, criminally abusing it to the detriment of the product. Watching some teams it's hard not to think they spend all their training time working out how to milk penalties, steal an advantage, push their luck and basically, cheat as opposed to actually honing skills.
T'wasn't always thus.

No, if it's deliberately played at, which charging down a kick is, it's play on. It happened in your game yesterday before Wigan's 1st try when Sarginson ran 40 metres after being played onside by you charging the kick down.
