Sorry boys, got to agree with Ganson's and the Pie Eaters. I think he's one hell of a player. OK, he made a couple of errors on Saturday, but he also made a couple of fabulous takes under pressure. I'd love to see him in the P and B.

| Many times we ask why the international game is under valued. I think supporters should look at themselves before blaming anything else. It doesn't matter who did or didn't do well it should be that we won or lost as a team not a blame culture because a player from a team we don't like! For years people have been moaning about how poor Sinfield is for England now they have found another name to bemoan. Give it a rest and support your national team, club loyalties in the cupboard please until the RLWC is over

| Tomkins is world class.
If we had two half backs in his class we might have a chance but, as it is, I do not think so.
I would have loved to see him in P&B because, after all, The Wire were his boyhood team. In spite of the media saying he is a Wiganer

World class? Slater is world class, Tomkins is nowhere near!
He's cack under the high ball, not as solid/reliable in defence as Wellens and Radlinski used to be, doesn't make as many clean breaks as people think he does or should, mouths off and whinges at the ref all game.
The only thing he has that you would say he is good at is he is a good runner in broken play - but only done that in SL against some mediocre defences. In the international game, he's just not doing it cos he's not good enough.
Don't get me wrong, he's better than anything else England have, but if he's the best then it really does prove how far away we are in the talent pool to Aus and NZ.

Exactly my point, well said, now lets see how he performs next year, if he does well in the NRL I will eat my words and congratulate him, but in the meantime, let's all get a life!

2nd in the English team for clean breaks, 2nd for metres made, most try assists, 1 missed tackle, second for tackle busts.
Looks o.k to me.
He'll do well in the NRL.

3rd for clean breaks - 13th overall in the whole comp.
9th overall for metres made
2nd overall for try assists
10th overall for tackle busts ( even a welshman is above him! )
6th overall in errors made ( and how many players in the entire tournament?? )
So, for the most expensive player in the world, not great stats I don't think. Not exactly set the WC on fire has he!!

| Let's rave about how good he is on Saturday once he's beaten NZ on his own! Whilst he's some player within the world of Super League the true test will be when he plays in the NRL against quality opposition week in week out. Credit to him he's put his hand up to go so he must back himself.
Shame he was sinbinned for the last 7 or so minutes at the DW on his last game there

Agreed. Anyone who doesn't think Tomkins is world class is watching the wrong sport, seriously.

I'm not talking about Tomkins specifically here, but different people have different perceptions of 'world class'.
For me, 'world class' means they have consistently performed at the highest level and have, for a decent enough period, outperformed their peers and established themselves as one of the very best in the world.
For me, it's hard to say any player that's only played in SL has done that, as SL isn't the highest level. Tomkins has been a class above in his time here and he's clearly a talent, but how can you say he's outperformed the likes of Slater, Hayne, Stewart and Inglis every week? I don't watch the NRL enough to judge (I imagine there are plenty more full backs I left out) so I would never claim Tomkins as world class. Clearly, he's outgrown super league, he's clearly on another level compared to most of our backs, but he has a lot to prove to be 'world class' for me, but that's just my interpretation of it. Some people just expect the player to be pretty good and they'll say he's world class.
