He's a fantastic talent who would be a superb signing, but for the good of the league, I'd prefer him to stay at Bradford. Youth systems across the country have made great strides recently, and keeping young talent is vital to make clubs more competitive. I for one wouldn't want to see a repeat of 10-15 years ago, where all the best players ended up at the top 4 (e.g. Sculthorpe and Harris).

From what I've seen of the lad, he looks good. BUT, do we really need to spend big, on "the next Paul Sculthorpe".
Joe Westerman had that title foisted on him a couple of years back, and he's hardly "torn up trees", since.
We have 2 internationally rated second rowers at the mo, with ample back up, and (apparently) very good youngsters.

I'm very excited about Alan Bateman coming back to Wire. One of the best centres I've seen in the P&B.

I saw Alan by Morrison's in Stockton Heath about 2 years ago.

There is some new info from Bradford regarding Bateman;

"Ryan Duckett insists the Bulls have no intention of selling their best young players such as John Bateman -
Warrington are the only club to have made a firm enquiry about the Bradford-born back-rower, who last week told the Telegraph & Argus that he had no desire to leave his home-town club."

It looks as though both Hood and Caisley are desperately trying to get new investors in to cover their current debts (500K ?) and future funding requirements. The EGM is set for the end of May. I suppose if Hood gets his investors he will 'see off' Caisley at the EGM but if he doesn't, will get kicked off the board and replaced by Caisley. So the big question is whether Bradford can remain solvent up to the 25th May. If not, they may well come back to us and agree a figure for JB.
