| Thankfully no commentary will be required next week as most of us will be watching the game live and can draw our own conclusions.

For those who haven't got a ticket the BBC will be watched & god help the game if they put Ray (past it) French on!

scary thought.
They must realize how amateurish it sounds having him on the Mic. I don't want to derail this into a Ray French is/is not the greatest thing to happen to Rugby league thread. I think he is past it.
I always use the Phil as a yardstick for the events on the field. I have found him consistently biased towards Wigan but not in an offensive way (like Clarke). This I think is part of any commentary and helps form an image of the game. For example, if he says it was a bad tackle by Wigan; it was a really bad tackle. If he says it may have been a knock on from Wigan; it was definitely a knock on. Admittedly there are drawbacks as you never truly know what is happening, but that happens with every channel.

Who was the presenter when the 'Amos leg breaking scandel' was on?

| I Wasnt going to respond as im quite happy for folk to say what they think- no problem with it at all
Just one question though- This Wigan Bias - when is it appearing in commentary - i only ask as the number of Wigan games ive commentated on for Radio Manchester this season is .......................2
Wigan v Warrington rd 7 in which The Wolves played outstandingly well and Harlequins v Wigan round 21 which Wigan won fairly comfortably after a bit of a sticky 2nd quarter- and thats it and ive not been to any Wigan games privately either, ive seen More of Wigan on the SL Show than in the flesh!!!!!!
and
Just for the record yesterday was the 15th Wolves game ive covered for the BBC this season -
and finally despite what people want to believe ive never been a supporter of any particular club- ive loved the sport since i was a little lad and wish it would get the coverage it merits

Bravo Pip - amazed you raised your head above the parapet to be honest. You can probably tell it's a minority opinion. Now get back to your pie

I do once remember you almost screaming the studio down when Sam Tomkins scored against Leeds a couple of seasons ago..And that was followed by you shouting "Have that super league champions Leeds".... Ive been a bit suspicious since then...

is this true?
Be honest or give a little hint.
A lot of Wire fans believe there is a conspiracy against them. I just assumed you prefer the style of play of Wigan and so are a point of reference. As i said, there is nothing offensive in it. I wouldn't bring it up if someone asked about the coverage. A slight bias is a part of every radio programme. It is why I listened to the London coverage yesterday. I wanted their perspective.

| I've only ever found Phil Clarke to show bias, in fact i actually think that's a little Sky in-joke now.
Every time i listen/watch BBC/Sky i actually like the excitable guys no matter who they are.
Anyone remember that Woman on the football commentary, dreadful, no sense of timing and didn't get the 'flow' of the game right. I, living in london, don't usually listen to GMR but when i have the only problem i have is when they go to another game, the guys are top notch for me.
Psst Phil drop us a PM, i won't tell anyone else who you support, it's Swinton isn't it

It was that fookwit Allan Beswick. Makes me cringe to think someone like that is a Warrington Wolves fan.
Horrible, horrible little man.

The morning after Roberts broke his leg, it was the lead story on GMR News on that moron's breakfast show. After the news guy mentioned it, that turd Beswick came out with the following comment:
"Can you hear the smile in my voice?"
"Oh c'mon, what's a few broken legs if it gets us a cup *chuckle*"
An absolutely shocking comment from an utter scrote, and he's got prior aswell. When Alan Ball had his heart attack and died in 2007 trying to put out a fire in his garden, Beswick said "well at least we know that he is poor at putting out fires" before laughing about it.
And what's worse......he's still on Radio Manchester.

| If Phil gets excited when Wigan scores, it's because he commentates for Radio Manchester and they are one of the teams covered by Radio Manchester. He gets just as excited when we, Salford or Rochdale score. Actually scrap Rochdale, because unfortunately Radio Manchester don't seem to bother at all with non-SL clubs other than Leigh these days, which is a shame.
But I don't think he's biased, and I think he's some sort of saint (no, not them) compared to the imbeciles you hear on Radio Leeds or, heaven forbid, Radio 'Umbersaaaaaaard.

| at least PK realised it was Matt King injured unlike G Love & Hatfield on Dire FM who claimed it to be Micky Monas due to the fact that Joel ran over to him straight away. Obviously Joel was actually just checking his airway like any good player would do whoever was down. On the plus side I do love listening to Lovett.

To be fair Birchy, anyone could have made that same mistake as they are both very similar in height and hair styles.

| This is up there with the 'Phil Clarke' nonsense. I guess some fans just can't ignore their paranoia - in the same way a perv can't walk past the newspaper section without buying a porn mag. They get all itchy and irritable if they don't do it.
Personally I really enjoy listening to GMR and everyone on it pretty much. We get loads of coverage and I can't recall any obvious bias towards any particular team. If Kinsella did get excited over a Sam Tomins try way back, then I think its perfectly possible that the try in question was absolutely outstanding. It's just good commentary.
