| Just watched a bit of the newspaper review on Breakfast (with the lovely Susanna, reason to get up on a Friday morning) and the "gentlemen" of the press have shown themselves in their true light. Dummy spitting at it's best.
As big a helmet as Blatter is, it's now obvious that the "old guard" don't hold too much sway anymore, and Blatter wants the game to expand. In the last 20 years, we've had World Cups in USA, Japan/SKorea, SAfrica, and now we're going to have it in Russia (biggest country on the planet) and Qatar. It's clear FIFA want expansion.
Some of the reactions on the telly last night, just reminded me of spoiled kids at Christmas who didn't get what they wanted, .e.g. that dozy middle aged woman from Birmingham "it's disgusting, who wants to go to Russia"

| i doubt you'll find people wearing hats and scarves in moscow during june and july in fact i dare say you're more likely to want to don a bikini over there than in manchester during our "summer" months!
and i reckon the fact that qatar is proposing to build stadiums air conditioned down to 27 from 50 degrees using only solar energy is amazing, let's just hope they don't build them all with slave labour
it's obviously a ridiculously corrupt system though and the fact that a smiling abramovich, well known for his penchant for bribery, intimidation and mafia tactics, was in the background of the russian bid just confirms that... fair play to the beeb and the times for having a stab at exposing it, shame wikileaks couldn't find some internal wires from FIFA

| Yeah great all indoor ground which they are going to knock down and move to other counties after it.
Fifa seem to have ditched the rule that only 2 grounds maybe in the same city for Qatar it's 6.
the whole thing is rigged.
I thought that the 2018 would have been between Russia and England. But for England to get only 2 votes after being praised at how well the bid was compared to Spain/Portugal & Netherlands/Beligum is just rotten.

| hang on isn't the plan to remove the top tiers of the grounds and send them to countries where the football infrastructure is poor? surely nobody has a problem with that? are there some unacceptable strings attached to these deals or something?

| Come on, it was fully expected. Luckily for FIFA, they can say that they've given the WC to Russia and Qatar because it's never been there before, when in reality, both technical reports were extremely bad compared to the other bids, so they had to revert to the George Graham method of brown paper bags stuffed with cash.
The thing with Blatter is that you have to view him in reverse. So if he says something was "extraordinary and remarkable", what he really means is that it was utter dog turd. He referred to the Russian presentation as "interesting" which means that they definately were to win the voting.

| its been absolutely hilarious listening to these blokes almost crying about the injustice of it all.
Wheeling out phrases like "The FIFA gravy train" and "football is game for the people so why Qatar" and "we should pull out of FIFA"
FIFA have just handed the FA a taste of what the FA have been handing out to the English fans for years. a "Hey look at us doing what we want and not giving a $hit about you lot"
come this years FA cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea do you think for one minute the FA are going to implement a fair split of match tickets or will the "FA family" get bucket loads of tickets leaving real genuine fans missing out ?
pot calling kettles here i'm afraid

The Qatari grounds are not going to be 'indoors'.
And I believe 4 stadia are to be used in Moscow for 2018. Maybe FIFA have ditched the 'only 2 grounds in any one city rule', but so what if they have, it's their tournament, they can change the rules if they want.

| I've been watching sky sports news today and some of the reports were the most embarrassing things i have ever watched. The whole 'we were robbed', 'it was rigged' is so pathetic it is untrue. We got 2 votes!!! and one of them from an englishman. It's a bit like a manager crying about the officials when his team has just been drubbed 6-0.
