| I can't afford private eduction for my children, if the Government took away state education then my children would be uneducated. Tough Titty
I can't afford Private Healthcare, if the Government took away the NHS then if seriously ill I could die. Tough Titty
I can't afford to pay for my grandparents in their old age, if the Government took away the State Pension then they would be in Poverty. Tough Titty
Ad Infinitum.....................
We pay our taxes and dues so that each one of us can live safe in the knowledge that if we fall on hard times then the society that we all live in and contribute to will cover our backs until we are on our feet again.
Do any of us really want to live in a society and country where you can only get if you can afford.

| Quote ="lefty goldblatt"I normally agree with most things you say on this board 71, but this is so wide of the mark, it's untrue. Do the elderly, infirm, cash strapped (that they can't afford to hire a cab, let alone afford to run a car) deserve a place in your world. Or is it "I'm all right, Jack"'"
I can't see where these people will be going on a Sunday night. If they are infirm or elderly then surely then can get a taxi? If they are cash strapped then where are they going on a Sunday evening? Can they not go to this place another day in the week?

like the hospital to visit friends or family..jump the bus to visit family..or go to the local for a few hours..or those who work really unsociable hours i.e part time.. ups and breweries spring to mind with our council

It's a bus service FFS not state pension, NHS or education. The line needs to be drawn.

| I can imagine the outrage if the council revealed....
"Warrington Unitary authority is to provide £250K funding to allow for a Sunday evening bus service for the relatives and friends of prisoners of HMP Risley to visit their loved ones at arkward social times. Some of the visitors are on Disability Living Allowance. Coupled with the recently announced funding of £200K to put on a special bus route for the Friends of The Disabled Warrington Lesbian Society to visit a moustache removing class at the Warrington Collegiate on Sunday evenings, this represents a huge step forward for a more caring, compassionate society.
An unnamed council big wig commented "At only £40 per year per tax payer this represents great value for money".

| If it's commercially viable, private sector companies will put a bus on, if not they won't.
If it is the later how is that fair for the majority to pay for a bus 5 people use.
I can't see this being a blue print, supply and demand, the buses in London are packed even in the outer boroughs on a Sunday.

| I predict that given time to reflect on the decision and after careful consideration the council and WBT will realise that its in the interests of the public to provide a top quality service where and when it needed................................ WTF am I going on about. Sorry, the tablets are kicking in.
Heres an idea for money saving. reduced the number of half empty buses throughout the rest of the day by half and continue to run a "sunday" service

| Where do we draw a line.
There are many in the current Government who think that the NHS is a line to far and Private Medical Insurance can adequately cover most of the needs of all of the population.
Where do we draw a line.

| Actually the more I think about this, the more annoyed I get. This is a town of 200,000 and we can't even have an hourly (two-hourly!) bus service to the outer areas. It's disgraceful and must be some sort of record for a town our size. Really, really poor.

| WBT need to invest in a small fleet of 15-20 seater minibuses which do various circular routes to provide the service. No need for big single deckers on Sunday evenings. Carbon footprint.
(You stolen my vehicle registration certificate by the way?)

| Great opportunity for people to start getting on their bikes! Iv cycled the 9 miles to the game a few times now and thoroughly enjoyed it, as I am able to have a jar and a pie and burn most of it off before I get home.
If you cant afford a bike, see if your employer (if employed) supports the Cycle To Work Scheme...great way to get a bike.

| I predict that within a few weeks we will see Bennetts (Coachways) or Fairways introduce a few Sunday evening services, running every two hours and merging routes.
30B springs to mind, along with a few 20/21As. 5 to Warby (merging 7 & 37/3icon_cool.gif and possibly some kind of route similar to the 26/27. There is deffo a demand for sunday buses, and 2010 will be looked back on as a sad day for WBT. Reducing services will indicate weakness to the big 4, in particular Stagecoach who I believe have their eyes on Warrington already.

| It's a cost cutting/ fund raising plot directed at the town's rugby supporter. Stop the buses so they travel in cars then get all the traffic wardens out to ticket the extra cars who park where they shouldn't. Save money on the buses, raise money in fines - win/win situation for the council.

I rely on buses and catch at least 4 a day. Admittedly, some are empty and they should be cut. However others are packed and people rely on them. In reccent weeks Inspectors have been running extra buses on a Sunday to cope with post match demand. According to the Guardian, they never bothered to think about the rugby. The whole thing is a shambles and hugely damaging to WBT's reputation.
On an interesting note, WBC needs to make £30 million worth of cuts. Guess how much Orford Park is going to cost...
