the look he gives Johnno as well when Gilmour gooses him..... it just sums the man up....
when he threw the interception that lost us the game against castleford last season Briers went straight for him and put an arm round him and gave him a littel gee up.....
when the boots on the other foot Monaghan makes sure the person making the error knows exactly what he feels about it... he's a horrible little man and should be shipped out with King....

| IMO it is time for all at the club to accept that Monaghans best position is at hooker, and for him to start there with Higham adding impact from the bench. Briers/Bridge, Briers/VAnderson, even Briers/Gleeson or Clarke/Briers would make a better halfback pairing

| Please don't mention Clarke as playing alongside Briers. I had terrible flashbacks of the final Castleford game last season.

| Clarke/Briers would probably work quite well if Briers had his creative head on. If the pack is dominant, then Clarke's kicks downfield/into the corner would be very effective.

| Our halves didn;t talk to each other & barely looked at one another. One thing you teach kids from year dot is not to stand too flat & not to take the ball stood still.
Every pass between the 2 halves was direct at the man who then had to build the attack momentum again from a standing start. It wasn't going to happen. And the other thing was that when the backs attacked (especially Penny unfortunately) the wings were running lines 6-10m away from touch. We played a very compressed game.
I think the best thing Bridge can do to advance his chances of getting into the Warrington starting 13 is to develop an Australian accent.

Clarke has been good in the recent past but please don't make him kick. Higham could easily fill that role but we should really have at least 2 proper kickers at the club (Bridge if he plays?). Clarke isn't a great kicker, and this is not a critism because that should not be his role

| How good is Hick's in-game kicking? To be honest I can't really ever remember seeing him doing tactical kicking.

I dont think I've ever seen Higham kick a ball, when you play alongside Sean long and paul sculthorpe at Saints and Trent barret at wigan it would be a very rare occurance that he needed to kick....
Clarke has in fact produced kicks of a quality better than monaghan but the thought of Clarke doing something better than another rugby player doesnt sit well with the majority on here so its no suprise that all and sundry are suggested as different options for kickers over Clarke

Its my opinion Lefty lad.
I watched him extensively in his last season at Manly where he played at Hooker for the majority of the games.
He was awsome at Hooker for Manly and was one of the main reasons why they made the GF against Melbourne.
He has been a shadow of his former self whilst playing in the halves for Wire.
At the very least we should give it a go and see what happens.

Unfortunately it does and everyone remembers what happened when Sullivan went back to Hooker, he was immense.
Its a shame the club didn't learn lessons from the Sullivan affair.

I wasn't having a go, simply pointing out that it's difficult to kick from stand off, even from full back I guess. Your six & seven should kick, with your fullback & hookers as options if they have that capability, I can't see Riley kicking, and we should never, ever see Hicks there again if we can help it.

He wasn't immense, he was okay. At halfback he was shocking. At halfback, his performances would have made Monaghan look like Joey.
Monaghan, and this situation is nothing like the Sullivan one, I wouldn't discount the theory that he may perform better at hooker, but to claim that it's the same as Sullivan is daft. Sullivans career read that he was an impact hooker who's only pedigree at halfback was a stint in junior rugby. Monaghan has four years in the NRL at halfback, with a successful 12 mth stint at hooker, if you hadn't seen him play, and you were shown his history and asked "What is he ?", you'd say halfback, as that's what he is, but who's had a bigger impact in a short period of time at hooker.
