| Now the handbags are back in their respective corners. Anyone actually got an update on who performed well today for the wire?
Sounded like Atkins had a good game.

| Quote ="Adamjk"No, it really doesn't (see my previous post).
I think something like 8k is the best we're ever going to really get and even that'll take time. I'm generally a pessimist when it comes to RL and while a lot of people in the game have big ideas about expanding it and bringing in huge amounts of new fans, I can't see it happening on a massive scale. I live in Stretford and most people wouldn't have a clue about RL despite being 10 minutes away from a super League ground and having the Grand Final here every year.
I agree with you, we need 'gloryhunters'. Like I said, I was being childish in response to childishness. It's not rocket science that winning games, brings in crowds - this year's shown that just having a rich backer and bringing in a couple of big names isn't going to simply bring the fans in consistently.'"
I read it our messages crossed in the ether.
My worry for you is that you'll never get the response from the people of Salford to match your owners ambitions and he might just lose patience and that would be calamitous. We would seem to have more of a chance with Moran as first and foremost he is a fan. BTW I'm not crowing as I'm a little disappointed with our numbers through the gate given the quality of RL that has been on offer in recent years.

He may well get bored, you're not the first person to say it! If he doesn't then we should hopefully have financial security for a long time and who knows, we might one day actually win something. If he does get bored and leaves, we're back where we were at the beginning of last year on the verge of administration. If he hadn't stepped in we'd either be where Bradford are now, awaiting an inevitable relegation, or worse, we wouldn't have even been able to fulfil our fixtures and we'd already be out of the league. Might as well just try and enjoy it while we can!

5. Your fans dont get behind your team, there was half as many there today as at the friendly preseason.
In regards to the game, was a scrappy game and there were too many errors for my liking but we got the job done.
Hope Evans heals up quick and Monas is alright too.'"

| What a childish thread.
On topic, I thought we were similar today to last Friday in East Hull. We did well to keep Chase quiet, but I'm looking forwards to seeing that try which he set up! Had to clap that. Bit of a worry if Evans is out for a while, he has been in blistering form.

I'd rather sing the odd Utd song to be honest than imitate the wacky dance moves of MCFC fans.

| At times we were comfortable until we drop the ball or give away a silly penalty and they score. Can someone please order a taxi for Asotasi & Glenn Riley to Widnes, Leigh or even Salford.I must of counted 7 times between them they've dropped the ball.

Without being rude to Asotasi or Riley, I don't think Widnes, Leigh or Salford would need/want them.

| Harrison, superb, love the guy.
Thought Bridge did well again, and his hand-off for his try was superb.
Hill, Higham & Westwood all excellent as usual and Russell looked dangerous
Good team effort but we're getting seriously depleted, hope the news on Ben Evans is good.
Alas, not all so good. Glenn Riley & Asotasi seemed to be having a private battle of ineptitude and it was difficult calling a winner. Riley has the ball handling of a blind juggler with one hand tied behind his back and every time Asotasi looked like taking the ball up with any kind of intent, he knocked on. Every time.

| Even with injuries causing weekly disruptions the team are turning in more complete performances & providing attacking threats from all over the field. I know Briers's untimely retirement was a shock to everyone's system but the Wire have come out the other side a much better force than the over reliance we had on a Briers chip to the corner, the frailties of which were highlighted when Joel was injured at Old Trafford & plan A had to be ditched.

| A very bitter Biscuit there.
A joy to watch is Rangi and if you had watched from behind the goal you would have seen his midfield distribution was first class.
Give a bit of credit where its due FB - Wire were worthy winners but the Devils are much improved.

| I was behind the sticks and at best i'd say Chase was average. The goal kick miss at 22-16 was unforgivable, momentum is everything and he took it away from his side with that piece of sloppiness. To me he always seems more of a hindrance to a team than a help. Saying that Ratchford seemed to have caught the 'Hollywood' bug yesterday with unnecessary flashy passes when a simple one would've been much more effective.....especially when the flashy pass is intended for Glenn Riley!!

| Chase's problem (in my opinion) is that his predominant movement is sideways. Now don't get me wrong, Rob Burrow and for 6 months Rhys Wesser got away with that, waiting for someone to make a bad read then using pace to cut through. But Chase doesn't have that electric pace.
For me, the first movement for a half/hooker should be forward to hold up defenders infront of you. But Chase doesn't seem too interested in that, it's all too basic for him.

Really? Who told him to keep us in the game??! Why do you think there was an agenda to 'keep Salford in the game?'
Atkins try should have been disallowed. Hill was accidently offside when he collected the loose ball before feeding Atkins for a clear run to the line. You got a favourable call and there was other instances which may have gone against you. Dubious decisions happen in every rugby league match. Average game, average ref. Best team won.

| Chase had a hand (and a foot) in 3 out of 4 Salford trys on Sunday. If making assists is a hindrance then hinder away Rangi!!
Bare in mind he was playing next to Tommy Lee who isn't a 7! Fages was a late withdrawal, he would of started if fit. He would of took on the organizational and kicking duties.
Chase isn't an organiser, hence why we've brought Dobson in.
He was Salford's MOTM for me.

I'm not sure about the accidental offside, but, the rest of your post is pretty much correct.
Although a spirited performance, the only people keeping Salford in he game were Warrington with simple handling errors and daft play at times. We blew 4 gilt edged chances that would have stretched our lead and possibly led to Salford thinking they had a chance if they kept at it rather than their heads going down.
I think our players thought this too, hence we took the two when offered, not very often we see that

Salford knocked on and the ball deflected into the Warrington defender and was collected by Hill who was stood a few years in front. It should have been scrum feed to Warrington.
Im not trying to blame the ref for our defeat as this wasnt obvious to me on the day. I just think too many fans focus on the officials. This is perhaps partly because of Sky Sports/Eddie & Stevos obsession with scrutinising every refereeing decision during live games.

I wouldn't ordainarily disagree with a man of the cloth Fr. Ted so for clarity when I said I wasn't sure about the accidental offside I wasn't saying you were wrong just that I didn't get a good view of it on the day so felt that I couldn't comment with any certainty.
As far as officials are concerned, I'm not one who automatically looks to blame them for our defeats (unless we're playing Saints) or accepts that they overly contribute to our victories, as players generally win or lose games all on their own, aided and abetted by the coach
