As an obvious rugby league enthusiast and sage, and away from all things yesterday, can i ask why you think a person like Morley is an 'inspiration' (as posted elsewhere on this board)?
Here is a person once dismissed after less than 20 seconds of an International game. There is a litany of other misdemeanours throughout his career. This says to me
- No brain
- Couldn't care less about the team (80 mins with 12 men)
- Thug
That isn't the CV of an 'inspiration'.
May I suggest Carvell was an inspiration yesterday?'"
Might I suggest you check his desciplinary record while he has played for us.
Not saying he's an angel, certainly hasn't been in the past, but during his time at Wire he's been the model pro and captain.
The entire club was no doubt lifted when he was named on the team sheet.

He is basing his entire character on one mistimed tackle it seems...... It is obvious to anyone with a brain that he is a huge inspiration to his team mates.

| Follow the leader, Morley is our leader.
I dare anyone underestimate the value that Morley brings to our side. You could sense the lift in not only the players but the crowd as well, everyone questioned would he play, was it just mind games naming him the squad. But once he walked out on the field the whole stadium erupted, you knew then how important he is to our team. He didn't look out of place for a moment, I doubt we would of won if he wasn't out there when you consider our bench. Most players probably wouldn't of played due the significance of the operation today, lets hope all is well and he is able to lead us into the play-offs.

When I watched it back on Sky, the noise that erupts when he takes his first carry (from the drop out) was immense! Loved that.

Or Cassidy elbowing Morley, Newton smashing Long in the face and just to keep the Wigan trend going Hock trying to scoop Harrisons eyes out of his head.

I can name strings of dirty play(ers)'s from Warringtons past, its pretty pointless to pick three random ones from our recent past.

I've probably put about 6 posts (hardly everywhere) on the Cherry and White board...non gloating, too
Why is Morley an inspiration?
Well, let me see!
Grand final winner, in both hemispheres
Challenge cup winner in 3 seperate decades (showing his longevity)
Hugely respected by fellow pro's, in both hemispheres
Leads his team and Nation with pride
Conducts himself with great dignity (unlike some SL players)
Never takes a backward step (again, unlike some SL players)
Man Of Steel nominee
Admired by youngsters at our club
Man enough to admit his previous indiscressions, and to channel his aggression correctly
would just be a few reasons why he's an inspiration.
His disciplinary record, for a prop, whilst at this club is very good, which rather blows your "theory" out of the water.
Whilst we're on the subject, one of your fellow pie-eating helmets, brought up the issue of Les Boyd (another inspirational player) being a thug, on the Hock thread, on your site.
May I just bring up Boyd's disciplinary record whilst with us...
First game Sept 85
Final game April 89
best part of 4 seasons played (admittedly88-89, he only appeared after New Year)
In all that time, he was sent off ONCE, and then found NOT GUILTY for the offence.
Another player that's been tarred with the "THUG" brush, when he joined our club, but, he totally cleaned up his act.
Maybe, you should get Jeff Lima to give him a call, and get advise on how to channel his aggression properly.
So yes, after 30 odd years watching rugby league, I'd call myself an enthusiast (though probably not a sage ).
In that time, I've seen plenty of players who can be called an inspiration....Morley, is definately one of them.
Your summary of Morley, shows your "sageness" too.
although, yes....you could call Carvell an inspiration, yesterday.....ta!

Couldn't have been happier when he signed for us then? I hear waterhouse is a bit of a muscle man too, but i don't think anyone will ever match moz's arms.
Even as a bloke, when the tears settled from my eyes as he lifted the first CC trophy, i though God sake how big are that blokes arms.

I can believe it, there was a story going round last year about some dead curls the players were attempting and only 3 players in the team could do them, Morley, Carvell and Mathers .
Apparently the weights they were throwing were outrageous, not shocked that he or carvell can do them, but mathers haha.
Morley is an absolute monster, and i'm so glad he is ours, the most feared and respected leader, probably in both codes on both hemispheres. LEGEND.
Edit: Also, i think that if the team bus were ever to break down, that morley would just lift up the back of the bus whilst the tires were changed etc.

According to Mick Vella's interview in the RUGBYLEAGUEWORLD magazine, Shaun Briscoe is by far the strongest in the Hull KR squad...

| To be fair the refs and the rfl are both scared of Morley let alone opposition players. He whacks Lima across the face (as posted on this thread) takes Tomkins high (with a trip whatever the rfl say) and the makes 2 professinal fouls in a row. We all know that 1 alone is a sin bin offence. But nothing.
Before you all start. Warrington won because they were better than Wigan in all areas and sin binning Morley wouldnt have changed the result. I am merely pointing out that for probably the best prop in SL he gets away with murder!

Gary Connolly was one of the strongest in the Wigan squad when he was here.
On a bicep related note, Langley has got a set of guns on him too.
I really struggled to find a more camp photo.
