| I don't think we can point a finger at Agar this early in the season, Biscuit is pretty much spot on regards a leader and his other points, TS brought Asotasi in as a leader he's not leading, Bridge at 6 is not the answer GOB seems to be in awe of those around him rather than playing to his own game, I thought kicking was his main strength, whatever TS's thoughts were pre season with regards to the halves they now appear to be in tatters.

| Does anyone know what incluence each of the backroom staff really has?
I don't but would love to know.
TS doesn't become a bad coach overight. Some of his signings have been very good, some poor (sorry Roy but you're in the latter camp)
Never been overly convinced with Agar and not sure what he brings to the club, but not bagging him because I simply don't know what his role is eg work with the halves, work as a defensive coach etc etc

All I know is that players usually jump at the chance to earn browny points by praising their coach in the media, yet I haven't heard a peep about Agar. To me it reeks of jobs for the boys.

| If Agar gets free reins of the coaching side I can only see 1 way this clubs going and it isn't up.Just ask the Wakefield and Hull fans.Surprised Moran endorsed Smithys praise of him which obviously is based on a long term friendship more than his coaching abilities.

I think we can add France to that list, they have totally underachieved since he took over. Agar stood down after we won at Belle Vue, the turnaround there in the following months scared the life out of me.

So if TS isn't involved in coaching, then his job spec should be changed from Head of Coaching & Rugby to just Head of Rugby and Agar's title should then be Head Coach.
But then you say the 2nd part as if Smith is the 1st team coach. He isn't, Agar is.
Ultimately, if Agar isn't coaching the team right, then that it for Smith to sort out. The question is......will he?

| As runningman says, Agar's track record in a coaching role is far from illustrious. Moran can't be happy with what he is seeing, it's his money paying for this lot at the end of the day.

| This discussion is a bit like driving at night without lights. We could be on the right side of the road on a dead straight stretch. Alternatively we might just have missed the hairpin bend and be heading over a 100' cliff. However, since Moran is a stickler for forward planning, and to have two coaches is expensive to say the least, presumably Agar is the anointed successor to TS. If true, lets hope he has learned to drive by then, and remembers to turn the lights on.

I was also made aware that tony smith does not posses level 3 coaching badge how true it is I'm not sure . Surely the RFL would not allow this, although stranger things can happen at the RFL .

| I don't get the sudden hate for Agar
2 weeks ago, we beat Leeds with a great TEAM performance. No mention that day, of Agar's influence.
This thread's been started by someone that clearly has a disdain for Smith, let alone Agar.
Briers' (clearly coming to the end of his days in 2013) replacement wasn't sorted
A few weeks later, he announces his retirement. Weeks go by, still no replacement
We manage to get by, in 2014, with various half back combinations (calm yourself, duckie. We know what you're thinking), but we know that the problem is still there. Agar is appointed half way through the season.
We're about a third of the way through the new season, and our problem (which would've been evident to Stevie Wonder, on Friday night) still exists.
The blame for our lack of leadership on the pitch, lies at the door of
a) Smith, for not acting
b) Moran, for not acting
c) O'Brien, Bridge, Myler for not delivering
d) Briers, for doing the crossword/picking his horses/thinking about what's for tea, whilst he's taking training sessions
e) Agar, for only being here for a few months, but still being complicit.
Yes, Agar plays his part in our "issues", but doesn't deserve the amount of vitriol, when the problem existed before he became part of the payroll.

| If I remember it right, Agar wasn't dismissed. He handed in his notice and followed it up saying that he was disheartened with building up a team on limited resources to have it broken up again when the better players got sold on to other clubs.

| To be fair to Agar, he inherited a decent Hull side, that'd won a CC and got to a GF and CCF later
He got a chairman who had a penchant for 30 year old NRL players, who immediately got injured
At Wakey....well, you can only pooh with the ar53 you've got....

| Quote ="morleys_deckchair"what a game.... defence was sublime.
Westwood just demolished the leeds pack... he ran every ball in like his life depended on it and put some bone shuddering hits in... no backrower in SL can touch him when he plays like that.
Bridge at 6 worked.. GOB was superb in the halves.
no weak link anywhere on the pitch.
Simms and Laithwaite (few errors apart) were also fantastic....... faultless display.
absolutely fantastic
'"
This was only a few weeks ago but now Sims is garbage, the current MOS is garbage, Russell isn't a winger, Penny is a defensive liability, we never should have signed Wheeler, it's all the fault of Agar/Briers/Moran and Smith has had his day apparently!
If we get a decent halfback with a good kicking game and we're still this poor then I'll start to worry.
In the words of the great Rubber Duckie some people need to 'wake up and smell the custard' (whatever that means).

Apart from your apparent affinity with Sheffield United spot on Sam ha ha.
We were a decent team, things were on the up, John Kear said we were "the real deal", on the Super League show and Captain Peacock didn't disagree. Come to think of it neither did anyone on here

| Smith will sort it, he's got a challenge on his hands and as usual he'll rise to it. If we're still playing as dourly as we did against Hudds in 5-6 weeks time then we can start to panic. In fact if we haven't improved by the start of May and Cameron is also in Number 10 - i'll just have to end it all. A good performance against Widnes would be a nice fillip.

| Think you'll find that there's no solution to the half back problem.
So no matter of Clark, Sims et Al improve or not. Without a half back to take advantage then it will be useless
The half back situation is totally at Smith’s door and if he can't see it then we're well and truly stuffed. To have not addressed it, is either stupidity or sheer arrogance on his part.
O'Brien is a championship scrum half and nobody at all at 6. If Smith is this genius then why hasn't he sorted it. Full backs and wingers of the opposition think our kicks are a simple training exercise, as we find them with unerring regularity.
Surely Every person would agree that the money for Clark should've been spent on a top class half.
One thing is certain with the worst half backs and kicking game in SuperLeague this team is going nowhere
