It's well known the sets of players didn't bond.
Going out for a few drinks helps people bond in a short space of time, especially the players who are probably more reserved on the training field.
I think not being allowed to drink anything would have had a negative effect on the England side..just my 2 cents

How would you feel as a set of fans about TS if your current run of form continued for say another month. Personally if the coach is to find out the reasons for why what is 'on paper' one of the strongest squads in the the league, fail to perform consistantly. Then he needs to give some instruction, tweak the current on field team and sit back and observe. Only then will he be able to pin point the problem areas, players or positions. Maybe even let JL carry on and sit back and watch.

This will obviously cause a short term pain but in some ways it will be better then the initial up turn in form that was seen when JL took over last year did. All that does is paper over the cracks.

Lets be honest if TS hacks the squad now the only players that he will be able to bring in will be not the ones he would want in the long run, be far better running out some of the young lads alongside a Monaghan, King etc.. and then recruit at the end of the season. The only down side is if the fans would turn on him after a month or 2.

Personally I hope he does a good job as I've always quite liked wire as a club and the league would be better for having a competetive wire team in it, hopefully it just doesn't start this week...

I was watching the footy show on setanta last night and they were talking to Scott Prince asking him how his team mates manage to stay out of problems being on the Gold Coast, he said that they're given strict curfews and they're areas where they aren't allowed to go. he also said that he enjoys a few beers after a game to celebrate a win but they still have to stick to strict rules. I remember in King's last season that for the run in to the season there was a no booze ban self inflicted by the players. I know we hear a few horror stories from Aus about players on the ale but it seems the majority take their career and season seriously, hopefully Smith can instill this in us.

i love the way when a player gets caught bladdered or doing drugs they suddenly pull the "i've got an addiciton" card out to deflect the fact that they are just an idiot, and don't have any respect for the priviledged position they are in as a professional sportsman and role model

But is there really a drink culture? I mean, I have often seen Saints players smashed out of the heads staggering round town, but St Helens dont get accused of a drinking culture. I also saw the Leeds team in Newcastle once on a monday night, again, smashed and Leeds dont get accused of it. Or is it just your fans looking for an excuse?

Exactly. A point I've tried to get through to the thickheads on here many a time, but have given up. Look at Manly, now exposed as big drinkers and they are World Champions! Imagine if Warrington players at the season launch got drunk, punched a sponsor and assaulted a teenage girl!!! Fans would implode with rage.

I know our players like a drink* - but then so do most RL players. I just don't agree it's the reason we underachieve.
