I've got to hand it to the wag who started a "MOM v Huddersfield" thread on the Hull board

I'm wondering what your thoughts would be if hull fans were to disrespect you having beaten you this season in the same way some on here are disrespecting Huddersfield. Yes you have beaten us this season (but that game at your place was an absolute joke). I'm not sure how its any different to hull having beaten you and knocked you out of the cup. Im seeing plenty on here saying broughy isnt good enough - hes put many teams ti shame this year and smashed club records held for almost 100 years. that our league position flatters us and we dont have the head for big games. thats been said plenty of times about us this season, leeds in the cup, wigan in the league, last night ot was said and we proved doubters wrong. yet you lost the CC cup final to the team we blew out of the water last night. If you are judging Huddersfield on those games you played us alone then you are in for a big shock. We have beaten Leeds saints and Wigan when all those teams were at full strength. I'm not saying we will beat you but I find this dismissal of us baffling.

Brough has gone missing against us 3 times this season. We're not rating him because against us he has been outplayed by Myler every time.

yes you might prove us wrong, but the cold hard facts are leeds, wigan and saints are viewed as stronger opposition by most.

Some teams have the personnel and tactics to beat other yeams consistently. We have had problems with Hull and Widnes this year. Doesn't mean they are better sides.

No one is dismissing Hudds. It is just that Hull capitulated after 10 minutes and couldn't be bothered tackling. They made Brough look world class, when he can't even make the England team.

Not me... i would pick Huddersfield in a heartbeat.

Leeds; I have a theory that losing teams learn most if there is a repeat fixture soon after a defeat. For that reason I would avoid.
Sintellins: our home record is still crap though I would be confident of beating them away and very confident of beating them at OT.
Hudds; our record against them is excellent save for the play-off defeat a few years ago.

No history of winning big games? Wow a couple of challenge cups and your the bees knees eh. Your playoff record is much the same as ours. We have beaten the champions Leeds with ease three times this season, with brough making golden boot winner look like an u12 player. Hes won the albert goldthorpe medal with no one else anywhere near him, made the superleague dream team and has made the shortlist for MOS. above myler. We wouldn't dream of having the arrogance to make the suggestions about leeds you have about us, despite us being in a similar position regarding them. It will be interesting to see which tactic smith employs against us next time- or whether the players can just play fair rugby league.

I had to back through this post to see just where Hudds were disrespected, and unless I missed something obvious, couldn't see anything. They did the job (and very well too!) of beating the team before them, regardless of mindset/quality/form etc; Anyway, for what it's worth, if we fail to win the GF, there is no other team other than Huddersfield I would rather win it. Not only do I have a soft spot for the Giants, I enjoy watching them play and at the end of the day, they were league leaders and should rightly be crowned champions IMHO.

Jools, take it on the chin my friend. Fact is Huddersfield aren't perceived as a big club. Most fans are too young to remember you're strong team in the 50s, all are to young to remember the Team of all the Talents. However, a lot can remember you in division two (Barracudas anyone?!), and being SL whipping boys before Sheffield got shafted.

You've yet to win anything meaningful (sorry,LLS doesn't count I'm afraid), and until you do people will continue to dismiss you, and have a 'soft spot' for you. It's just sport.

If you ain't Wigan, Saints or Leeds, the only team with consistent pedigree over the history of the sport, this is how you're treated, ourselves included. The fact we've won a few cups and finished top 2 for past 3 seasobs means we're taken a bit more seriously, but it's only a short term thing.

Win SL, and something else in next year or two, and you'll be 'honoured' with opposition fans calling you arrogant, hoping Brough gets banned for big games, moaning about your style of play, slagging your fans off, etc, etc

Until then, face that people won't treat you as as much as a threat as the 'name' clubs, or current 'big teams'. But you look a bit soft coming on here crying about it.

Jools, I for one don't mean Hudds any disrespect, I always remember the very generous gesture of your fans when we won the LLS in 2011 and they unfurled a banner at the HJ congratulating us. "Big club" or not it was a big gesture and one I haven't seen elsewhere and sadly some here may have forgotten. And there might be some complacency creeping in about beating you if we meet in some quarters, I will have butterfiles whoever we're playing next Thursday and one way of looking at it is that you guys are due a win over us. BUT I also think it's just natural to fear and be wary of the players and teams who have stung you a little bit more and painfully in the past - and for me Leeds and Saints are top of that list right now. If we do meet next Thursday and you beat us, yes, you'll be joining them.

NtW is spot on above. It's mentality. Wigan, Leeds and Saints are all seen as big guns and a threat. A few years ago Bradford obviously were too but they've slipped. We're seen as bridesmaids and upstarts, who have done well and won a few trophies but continually fallen short at the end, which is why we have to listen to "It's always your year" from opposing fans every week. We've actually won a trophy in each of the last four years but that doesn't matter because we haven't won the big one and rivals love to remind us of that.

Huddersfield are currently seen as a good side, but unproven in real terms as there are no Super League trophies or Challenge Cups on the board. Once there are you won't need to be on here screaming "Please take us seriously! We're really good - honest!" Until then you'll have to put up with being patronised in the same way we have to continually be mocked about whose year it is. The only answer is trophies.

totally agree..i too have a soft spot for hudds..good players that come across as a well grounded bunch..if we dont win it just hope hudds do...

People on here have their opinions and Jools has hers too, I agree with what most of said about the Giants, we are unproven at this level, certainly for the last 60 odd years, yes winning the LLS is good but it's not got the kudos of a CC or GF winner - that's just being honest.

Posters who don't read RL media material and follow all things Rugby League, amateur, Juniors, open age , the lower leagues and the NRL probably won't have a clue what the Albert Goldthorpe Medal is Saddler pedals his points every week!......I guess not everyone is that read up.

Hull were poor, on the night, we blew them away and with their attack I guess heads dropped once we reached 12 mins and they were 3 scores down, the straw had broken the camels back as they say. TBH I was expecting a hard tough defensive display from both teams, especially as they shut out Catalan the week before, it didn't happen.

As much as I dislike Hull's fans behaviour in the past (btw, some of our own fans' leaves a lot to be desired) they were entitled to RIOT after that shambles.

I reckon that Gentles will be gone by Wednesday. Hull seem to promise to do so much at the start of every season, only to disappoint and then have an end of season clear-out. It's happened for about the past 5-6 years.
