I heard that Gleese was pretty miffed at loosing his spot to Josh Hannay hence him wanting a move to Wigan

| Quote ="wire forever"Latest is that Gleeson left yesterday and signed for Wigan as rumoured for 2 players in exchange, 1 being Mathers and the other heavily rumoured to be Goulding. IF this is the case, then I think we did ok - he was going at end of year for free anyway & he would have been on massive wages that will have now free'd up some. Also his "off field" antics left a lot to be desired. We as Wire fans have been asking for years for a team that want to play in our colours, Gleeson is the start of the bad apples leaving, no matter what he did on the pitch, he wasted his obvious talent by being in cruise mode throughout his career. Wigan are welcome to him and his antics. He wont turn into an angel overnight because of this.
Finally, we have a coach who has the cojones to do something about players for the good of the club.
If Gleeson doesnt play today, that confirms it for me.'"
Well said Geordie. The bloke has been on cruise mode the whole time he was with us. He never respected us as a club. You will see a world beater once more at wigan I presume. Wait and see.
PS. I agree first of the bad apples out. Bring on the rest of em. A shame monaghan got injued...

| I'd agree with those. I'm really disapointed with how Reardon's turned out. I know he's been injured but I was expecting big things from him - all we've had is poor on field displays, injuries, and poor press off it. I think we will have to add Hicks to that list at the end of this year too.
Morley Carvell Cooper Higham Westwood Wood Harrison and Grix are the players to build around imo.
NB Rauhihi has been superb imo the last 12 months.. pity he's 35 and not 30

| Can't believe people calling for Johnson out. Great versatility, great attitude, always does a decent job.
Had a poor game at Saints on the opening day, but it was after a massive injury lay-off, and he's got better with every game since.

You know, I thought he was sensational in the first half of that game. I can vividly recall a trysaver on Gilmour when I just thought he was in, got him by the ankle etc. In that first half I thought he was really good like, off his line & agressive, Gilmour did squat. Second half, completely different, Gilmour walked around him and that was that.
I'd keep him, fitness issues permitting. But then, you give him another two year deal, he breaks down straight away, cue this forum flooded with 'Why did we give biscuit PJ a new deal'.
I think he's exactly what we need, and should we sign some backs in the off season, I'd actually quite like to see him & Westwood as our backrow, I think it'd be good, compliment each other etc.

So you got a text message from somebody who has been reading rumours on the internet - big deal. I suppose though it had to be a mate knowing how you are so against people who post transfer rumours on internet messageboards (which you seem to do a lot of).
Oh and by the way, the text was wrong. So again its not York 79 talking pooh but York 79's texter talking pooh.

The Wigan message board knows.
The fact that he didn't play yesterday speaks volumes. I've no doubt he is off but don't know that as a FACT.

I suppose so. More likely it's to prevent him being cup tied, especially when he was named in the original squad.

shed loads of money, more supporters than warrington (only for 60 minutes though). endless supply of pies and a better cinema. plus all the pubs are on the same street meaning he can save his fitness up for the games without walking miles from pub to pub

| He obviously has his motives. As a club we are a lot of things, but what we are not is a 'Selling Club', so the deal obviously works for us, or it wouldn't happen at all. If it gives Smith a bit of salary cap space, and also a few quid, should he need it to prise someone away from their club later in the year etc, then cool.
I just find the whole thing refreshing to be honest, Smith has come in, we've all waited, anxiously to see what he makes of things, expecting change etc, we thought Briers would be gone, but credit where it's due, it looks as though he's rolled his socks up and want's to be a part of the Smith journey, certainly this year, there's a wider issue for 2010 onwards. Smith has kind of thrown us all a curve ball with this one, but I think it's great really.
A current GB International, arguably the best British centre in the comp', up there with the best in the world, and we're more than happy to let him leave. Brilliant.
