| We could potentially lose him, Austin and Widdop with a new coach coming in, be an interesting 12 months to say the least; to see how it all pans out
It is now or never for Clark, ideally I’d like him to stay and we build around him for the next 3-4 years. But if he’s willing to test himself down under I wouldn’t begrudge him on bit, I’ve no doubt he would be a success.

Gold Coast are on the way up under Holbrook.
And Clark’s only won 1 trophy in 6 years with Wire despite their being only 4 good teams in SL.

| I’ll have the image of him celebrating his try saving tackle against Stains in the final, etched forever in my mind.
It was as if he’d scored the winner.
Good luck to him if he decides to go. He deserves it.
No idea why SP didn’t start him yesterday.
Hope it was a slight injury.
If it wasn’t - why the feck would you risk that kind of divisive loss and performance against one of your clear rivals for top 4.

| We've done well to keep him this long.
Deserves a shot in the NRL but I hope we somehow manage to keep him.

| GUN HOOKER'S NRL HOPES ON HOLD
The Warrington Wolves have poured cold water on reports doing the rounds that 'gun' hooker Daryl Clark has been given permission to negotiate with NRL clubs.
Rated the best hooker in England, Clark is on the radar of the Titans and several other clubs down under.
But a Warrington source has told me his fate will depend on the wishes of the club's next coach, who is yet to be appointed.
Wolves are on the lookout for a coach following ex-Dragons coach Steve Price's decision to move back to Australia at the end of the current season.
Found that through the mole Twitter feed.

Well that means he's not being allowed to leave then doesn't it, any new coach is going to want to keep him.
I wonder if this is because the club worries that it will make the vacancy less attractive if they allow their best player to leave.
I think its a bit harsh personally, given what Clark has contributed to us, and given his age and the fact its now or never for him to pursue a shot at the NRL, and I'd allow him to move if it could be arranged. Now, if the club does want to put their foot down and block it, DC can't really complain because he signed this contract. I just think sometimes, doing the right thing for a player is more important than holding them to a contract, especially if they have been an exemplary professional and consistent performer like Clark, and I'd like to see him have his shot at becoming a top NRL player.
I would say the same if Ratchford or Hill had a shot at the NRL too, although that ship may have sailed.

| Ratchford NRL???? Not now, not ever. In terms of shifting the team around after last week he seems to have escaped most proposed culls. He would be on my bench (if all fit) due to his utility value....maybe at present he would be in ahead of Austin at stand off. Ashton would be taking his place at FB, he is our biggest threat and returns the ball much further than the overrated ambler.

Austin basically has a high bomb and a side step and nothing else. He got found out quite quickly and if the opposition simply hold the line they basically nullify him.

The problem really was the lack of threat from other directions. As soon as the defence see dummy runners they have to make decisions rather than just holding the line, which is when Austin gets his opportunities.

Exactly, we add more structure to our right hand attack he becomes a different animal. Our attack was built round him in his first year, it’s built around our left edge right now. We need more balance.

We might have abit more about us down the right side when King moves to right centre, I’m fairly certain that Inglis would prefer the left side of attack. If we have King down that right side & Charnley regains some form/confidence we will probably have a much improved threat down the right side.

I think Inglis has predominantly played left centre in the past, but surely King would have started the year at right centre if that is where he would have been playing?

| Inglis has played all over the backs and excelled at the freedom of both channels from the fullback position.
He’ll do great at both centre positions.
I can’t see King being swapped now.
It makes sense to have had King right centre and Mamo left from game 1, if GI was going to fill in on the left.

| I suppose we ultimately won’t know until Inglis’ first game which side of the pitch he starts on, I’m basing this on the fact he’s the big star signing and has said on recent interviews his preferred position on the pitch is left centre (where he has played the majority of his career). King is abit more flexible and played well on both sides of the field as well as second row...

| It's Powell on Hughes I'll be interested to see play out.
Powell seems to like more dynamic 2nd rows, Ollie Holmes, McMeeken, Junior Moors, Chayse Blair, Jesse Sene-Lefao. Hughes doesn't fit this mold, Currie probably does but Hughes is a bit more of a flow breaker when he gets the ball. It'll be interesting to see if Powell opens him up from Price's "take it up the middle safely" mantra

He's pretty solid as a centre, decent speed and a decent pass. Sure he's more than just what we see on the right edge at the moment, and pretty sure we saw some fancy cut-out passes on the left during 2016/17 didn't we? Before Smith left?
Guess we'll see.

| When everyone predicted he will leave at the end of his last contract...he surprised many and was very happy to extend his future here. He married local and has a child. He seems very happy and settled playing for Wire.
All this talk of him leaving goes completely against the grain to me.
If he does have an opportunity to play NRL, it’s now before his child is of a school age. However we’ve seen it’s a big thing to go so far with a baby and leave grandparents back in the uk, for all parties.

Agreed, I think every player gets a clean slate as of next season with Powell. I can't see Jason Clark staying so we do still need a workhorse and Hughes is a good one. I'm hoping at the very least the instructions change. I'd imagine Powell will pick his own captain though and if he is staying I think Daryl Clark would be a strong candidate.

| I think Powell will have to use all his powers of persuasion to keep Clark. NRL clubs will be crying out for hooker. Cameron Smith and Isaac Luke both retired and I hear today that Jake Friend has announced his retirement from immediate effect. Andrew McCullogh is not getting any younger and Ben Hunt who has played hooker is out for the season so even given the talent in the NRL they could be crying out for a player like Clark.
Clark is highly rated in the NRL and there could be some big money on offer.
