Joel will turn round in a few days and say he is going to stay in league for alot less money than he was offered to to go play union.

he will cite Wane's intervention and re-assurance...... and his love for Wigan and rugby league as his reasons for staying.

he will then be paraded around as some sort of rugby league deity by all and sundry.

Wigan and Wane well get some much needed positive press....Joel will get a nice pay rise and cult hero status.

There is a long list of failures of players who go from league to Union.

People look at Robinson and Ashton but most dont make the garde.

Too true, you could start with Mike Forshaw who went to Sarries. One of the biggest disasters was Lee Smith who went to Wasps as a star, hardly played, and has been a disaster since he came back and signed a 4 year contract at Leeds.

It would, fortunately we have the setup in place now that we shouldn't have such a poor run of seasons like we did for most of the last decade. If Sam left, we'd manage and still be near the top.

I agree... i don't think wigan are such a 1 man team.... roland does bring great attacking qualities to the team,.. but there are plenty of other players out there who can also bring alot to the table..... and probably quite a few from wigans youth setup..... I do however think that you will see some drop in performances under wane.

its very doom and gloom on the wigan site ref the tomkins brothers.... massive over reaction going on IMO.

I think we'll just see a bit of a different style coming in, Wane will give a lot more chances to our home grown youngsters. That will inevitably lead to a bit of a drop off as we already have a reasonably young side to begin with this season.
We have a couple of fantastic backs coming through (Ryan King is a player I hope can go far) and it will be interesting to see how he deals with the vacant RC position.



2 home grown youngsters, England regulars, who have coincided coming through to the first team with a return to winning trophies and a vast improvement in form.

We've planned on building our side around them, huge loss if they leave. Joel not so much as Sam, but he's still a big player for us (at 2nd row) that will leave a big gap.
