| A well constructed post however the kind of attributes that you mention shouldn't be that difficult to coach into someone that's got other skills and in your first pick 17 although I understand he may be in yours but i suspect he wouldn't be in many picks

| Quote ="Deus Dat Incrementum"I don't mind the fella. I know he doesn't run the ball in like Adrian Morley (I will go and get my tin hat and await the "he doesn't even run like Adrian Mole" comments).
I know I am going to sound like what some players say who have played with him but I do see some of the things he does.
Here is an example. When 3 forwards are involved in a tackle there is sometimes a Mexican stand off as to who will get back the 10 yards and which 2 stay at marker. Even when he is last man off (you would expect the first defender on his feet to get back the 10metres) Clark will drop back 10 no matter what. That allows Cooper, Mulhern or Philbin to conserve energy for their attack.
There are loads of examples like sprinting to put pressure on the kicker. Or chasing kicks that allow other forwards to save energy.
I know that I will be accused of being related to him but sometimes you need that type of player. Adam Milner or Nathan Massey who played 13 for Cas were not destructive ball runners but did the sort of stuff that Clark does. OK Knowles at Saints is the best at this sort of stuff and he has a far better running game.
Powell is no mug. He knows we need players to do this sort of stuff that goes largely unnoticed and do it well.
When we played Cas at the last game of Powell at Wheldon Road the sky cameras picked up on Powell and J Clark having a chat after the game and you could see from that, that Powell rated Clark.
I will dissappear now and come back in a few days when this thread has moved off the front page.'"
You're over thinking it.
He's a steady Eddie. Nothing more, nothing less.
You've simply embodied the basics of a RL forward, and made him look like he's split the atom.
He's taking up
a) salary cap
b) an overseas space
c) a squad place, denied to someone from where we should be promoting.
Name me one thing (apart from keeping Inglis company) that this fella has brought to the team in the last few years.
You can't.
Not a game
A MotM performance
A try
Barely even a pass, to justify a contract extension
Boy, am I p1553d off

| If we have a pack with Jason Clark and Jack Hughes again we will be turgid in attack. Jason Clark wouldn't get in our supposed top rivals 17 and he shouldn't be in ours, he just doesn't offer enough all round. If he is signed for cover then I'm relaxed about it.

| I'm anticipating a metamorphosis on a par with Benny Westwood as our new coach unlocks all the guile, elusive footwork and latent power in Jace as he wraps up MoS by June.
More pertinently, I'm anticipating opening a third bottle of Harvey's.

| Happy with that. Does the dirty stuff without recognition. Still think if he’d had played vs Cas in the CC, he’d have made the difference.
Our defence sucked that day.

| Price has gone. Sita has gone. Who is next?
This thread was bound to happen. It means so little about the players who get stick but so much about those who criticise so much. Not good for our game or our club.

| Maybe we’re keeping the Souths connection so we can sign Sam Burgess on an Inglis-style Lazarus contract. I’ve always wanted to watch Sam Burgess play one and a half games for us.

Nah, that's a bit of an insult to North Korea. It's a lot worse on the FB page, full of happy clappers who will block you because they can't take constructive criticism and you're not a true fan unless you applaud the team not only when they win 70-0 but lose 70-0 as well.

| I think this forum is one of the few Warrington social media domains where you are allowed to express exactly how you feel about the Wire and it's fairly liberal. The mods has a light touch. Although this forum is under threat from some who constantly chastise others who hold contrary views.

Agreed. We are a broad church, but have contrary view, and too many mount their high horses and get personal.
For all the club's big name signings, they counteract this with some "all mighty dropped b0ll0cks", yet too many on here seem to think that every signing/extension is a shrewd piece of business. I've news for them. It's not, as the last decade has proved.

I don't think it was ever likely the club captain would get given a squad number outside 1-13.
Whether that means he remains a first team regular is a completely different thing entirely... I suspect most of the squad have a lot to prove to our new coach in order to become undroppable.

Has he been confirmed as captain for 2022? I wondered whether Cooper or Widdop might get it

Not sure. But it still wouldn't be good for the morale of the individual to go from captain to not even making the first 13?... just taking the armband off him might be a big enough kick in the balls?

Thing is I've never doubted Hughes for effort or defence, it's the lack of attacking ability. I also wonder if he is the captain we need when the game is not going our way and things need to change mid-game.

Hughes also has a habit of doing daft things at critical times. Like stepping into players off the ball when we are 6 points behind and getting binned. Going forward we need a captain who knows when to steady the ship.

| I wouldn't argue against co captain's of Cooper and Williams. Cooper leads us out, has the wire connections and will run through a brick wall when needed. When he's off or in times of need, Williams leads us around the park

| Every great team needfs a utility player. Someone who knows every position inside out and can spot what the opposition is doing on the fly.
We need someone who's knowledge of the game is second to none and can fit into the team at the drop of a hat.
We have that now at Warrington.
The only problem is getting the bugger to put their pint and pie down and come out of the south stand.

Very good. I would recommend caution though as the collective view of this forum has been pretty accurate over the years when it comes to identifying the weaknesses, much better than the last coach could.

Not sure how much leeway the captain and even the players had under the Price regime, to change the tactics midgame?
Even Briers` and Henderson`s input as assistant coaches was minimal to the game strategy.
