| Don’t see how Wigan will make him less plodding and improve him enough to attain below average passing skills.
I do think Wigan are getting over-giddy with their recent improvement. They seem to think they’re the 82 kangaroos and Peet is Wayne Bennett. Huddersfield would rather crowbar Naiqama out of retirement than sign King.

No that's Saints. Haven't they told the Wire fans that? They have let everybody else know how brilliant they are (when they don't have a few injuries of course)

Remaining 1 year I think. Ends 2024.
Can't see him coming back.

So unprofessional that wasn't it. Hard to overlook even if he was an asset to the team and not an overpaid carthorse given a very generous contract.

The only way King comes back is if Powell is sacked and the new coach that comes in wants him.

| Quote ="Deus Dat Incrementum"I mentioned on another thread a few weeks ago that the comments that Matty Peat came out with when we signed Nicholson were only a day or so after we had agreed the loan / swap with Wardle and King.
At the time it appeared like quite a strong rant about an 18 year old that had played one game. So maybe there was a bit more behind it and we had inadvertently screwed up wigans plans for Wardle
I never had a problem with King when he was here so wish him the best of luck at Wigan.
Some strange parallels here. Didnt Hardaker end up on the outer at Wigan because he didnt want to get the coach back to Wigan after a game in Yorkshire.'"
The Hardaker bus situation did happen however that was not the reason he was moved on. It was one of a number of minor issues prior to a major issue that happened when he was back home and out in his beloved Pontefract.

Well suddenly Wigan fans think he's Mal Meninga. 'Best centre in SL a few years ago and now playing well at Huddersfield' was one quote - I mean there's deluded and there's outright blind.
I liked the Warrington Guardian's cheeky dig. 'Wardle 4 tries in 6 games, King 1 in 8'. One is playing for a struggling side, the other at the top end of the table.

King will be playing on his natural side on the right with Wardle playing on the left I would expect.
Both criticised by their parent clubs fans when moved to the opposite sides from their natural position on the other sides of the pitch.
You don’t go from being a very good prospect like King was to having a dip in form like he did in 21.
Most seem to go with the easy option that this was down to his new contract, I’m more inclined to believe it is due to him being switched sides away from the right.
Most Wigan fans had identified the centre position as the biggest issue within the squad.
I thought that we would need 2 off seasons to resolve that however it seems we may have done it in 1.

I'm not sure where you've heard that we're paying a lot of Kings wages next season, but that isn't true ? Wigan are paying his full wage, although he has taken a pay cut from what he was earning from his Warrington contract.

| Fair point, I've no idea how it works - I assumed with him being on loan he would still be under his Warrington contract and receiving those wages one way or another. He must've taken a fair old pay cut considering what we were paying him.

| So Wigan have now signed two Wire academy products in the last 2 months despite criticising our academy for years. Interesting.

Kings natural side is left, he’s played a bit of both in the first team, but I’m sure left was his preference.

Didn't think that was possible under salary cap rules, that's the problem we had trying to move ben Harrison on, sl wouldn't let him end his contract and sign for wakey at a lower value

I was gonna say, he's played left side predominantly, other than to accommodate inglis and Goodwin, his best form has always come down the left hand side

| It won't take Wigan long to realise King is a bang average player. Huddersfield didn't want him and when his contract is up(no matter who is paying it!)he will probably be back over in Yorkshire playing for Bradford or Halifax.

It is. He's signed for another club for a full season which won't cost anything on our cap. You may be correct about Harrison, but King won't count.

Apparently so. But it leaves us with a nice wedge of the cap free'd up for our next signing

You look at his top 10 tries in SL on YouTube, all but 1 he is playing on the right.

Yes, he only moved to right centre, to allow Bryson Goodwin to play left centre, after we signed Goodwin.

| I've heard numerous times that King is on a big salary. Not sure what is defined as big and whether that's even true but it's true to say his form has been erratic.
There must also be questions regarding why he was given such a long contract. Probably at the end of the day it's a judgment call by the coach/club based on performance, attitude, consistency and how the coach wants to play him/ how he fits within the squad/style of play.
Clearly a wrong call somewhere, although that's easy for me to see watching on the sidelines.
