My point being that maybe that was a true reflection of our standard, based on current season performances.

I know, I am not sure what our standard is. The spend on squad would indicate we should be one of the best teams in the competition, but then a cursory review of a game makes you believe we are one of the worst.

In Powell's defence, Price had years to create those embarrassments of 2019, 2020 and 2021 semi final exit. Powell has had 6 games.

Is it possible that this season we starting to see the sort of results that a Salary capped sport is meant to produce?
I suspect that there were a lot of changes in teams and coaches that were bound to result in unpredictable results and halfway point of the season should show a truer reflection, but “interesting times” for sure.

Super league is closer than ever and i'm loving it, the leeds v Salford game for instance was briliant to watch. A real back and forth fast pace hard hitting game. Apart from our games i'm really enjoying all the matches so far this year.
Powell potentially will have a lot of money to use next year. Widdop should be going home, along with J Clark. If the rumours are true aswell, Hughes and Charnley will be leaving. Those 4 alone will free up much needed cash.
If Widdop does go do you think Riley Dean could step up? or do you think Powell will throw money at Trueman?

See now thats an interesting point there, cos Trueman isn't the hot property he was 18 months/2 years ago, he's had back issues for most of the covid period, he shouldn't comman fat stacks, but if we don't sign him, and sign a prop no doubt the same old same old will be here 2 years down the line saying we should have splurged on Trueman.

Give Riley Dean a go and sign prop and 2nd row forwards with some grunt

Re: Trueman. Surely the catalyst for Trueman’s rise to prominence was Powell? If that’s the case, no point signing someone with back problems when we have a talented half back of our own waiting for Powell to work his stuff and turn him into a decent first team regular.

The whole point of signing Powell was to turn us into a decent side bringing through our academy stars. There simply aren’t many decent established ‘stars’ available to buy in this hemisphere, and no proven NRL coaches. The fact that some of our older heads may be waning could be a good thing and force Powell to bring the next generation through more quickly.

The way to get the fans flocking in is to get a winning team who give 100% every game, I know its a bit much to ask but its been done before and I reckon it will work again

I’m for giving Powell this season it’s Fitzpatrick for me that needs to go, been saying this for a few years now.

He hasnt covered himself in glory early on, thats for sure....... But Im really struggling to see what any coach would be able to do with the forwards we have at our disposal... worst pack in the league by a country mile... weak, tepid and work shy

Weren’t this bad under Price and most on here were calling for him to go. Not been this bad since Reggie Bowden was in charge.

Even more worried now. Powell is paid to transition from Price's processes to his own. All he has done is confuse , he has tried to change everything too quickly It has resulted in a lack of confidence in the team, morale and results. Shambles!

Price had 4 years to lose 3 knock out playoffs and leave a poorly performing squad behind. Our problems are many and varied, Powell will get the season at least I hope.

That squad was performing better under Price than Powell, to be fair though. Maybe as a coach Price was more popular with the players than the fans - for whatever reason.

Perhaps we have to lower our expectations to Castleford former levels. If you sign a coach who produces average performances on full cap, why should we expect the same here with the same cap.

Slippery slope this. Realistically, with HKR, Salford and Huddersfield the next three we could win all three and buy some time with the difficult run of Wigan, Catalan, Saints and Leeds.

Slip up in those three though and you’re then looking like we NEED to beat those big teams just to keep pace.

Tough job the Warrington role. It takes a special coach to connect with both the fans and with the players. At the moment, Powell has neither.

Price (for all his knockers, myself included) got the fans on side early. Going for a drink in the match day pubs and getting the bus to the stadium with fans went a long way and got him some loyalty. Powell is already having “frank conversations” and then relaying them to the media, which is a ploy to show his dominance and control. Not sure it will connect with the fans though, unless he starts putting some underperforming stars in the stands.
