| I know they are looking at arranging an exiles game. There would be some competition for the centre positions in the exiles team, Hurrell, inglis, Falou. Tupou
Decent halves in Sezer and Hastings (edit-sorry, forgot Hastings played for GB)
There are a few back rowers in SL in Joel Thompson, Manu Mau and Jason Clark.
Front row of Fafita and Matt Prior.
I can't think of many ex NRL wingers or hooker now that Joey Lussick has gone back but I suppose Leuluai could go back to hooker.
I think there would be a fair bit of interest in that game on the other side of the world given that inglis and Falou may be involved.

| I assume they don't want to bombard him in to the limelight as he was mentally burnt out which is one of the reasons he retired. I assume we'll let him settle in first then slowly introduce him in to training and things like that. Gotta look after him and keep him happy

Did Fitzpatrick run over your cat? Did you apply to be CEO and lose out to him? Honestly, not everything is his fault.

I've seen plenty of training pics none featuring Inglis though. The only interview I've seen from the club from yesterday's media day is one you have to pay for.

He's the CEO. He's therefore in charge of the day-to-day running of the club so I'd argue most things are down to and come from him actually.

Ok, so i will ask you this for a third time now, as you've not answered on the 2 previous occasion, can you tell me exactly which wolfie stunt that we did last year, upset you so much?
You've made reference to 'karl being more interested in wolfie stunts than other matters' (paraphrasing) so again, what did we do that bothered you so much last year?

He's also responsible for getting money into the club, hence why theyve released the 20 minute press session with GI to the fans that are willing to fork out the measily sum of 3.49 ( a month).

No stunt in particular bothered me its just clear as day to see that he's more bothered about social media and 'the brand' you only have to spend an hour in the blokes company to understand that. He's already publicly come out and said he wants us to be among the biggest sports brands in the world etc.
I'll put the question to you, if I'm wrong and there is more concern over what goes on on the field than what gets posted on social media etc then why is Steve Price still employed by us?

I'd argue it's a bit unfair when people, like myself, in the midst of a pandemic gave their season ticket money back to the club as a gesture last season when the club were begging for us to. Since October I've lost my job and I could not justify paying 'the measily sum' of £3.49 when there is no rugby on and nobody knows when the season is going to start.

Aren't they just delaying their press releases to tie in with the release of the Warrington Guardian as they do every year? the WG is the clubs media partner and it's important they give them content first given the mount of 'free' publicity they give to the club.

well if no stunt bothered you, why do you keep using it as a stick to beat him with, aside from some small promos we did nothing last year with wolfie, if he was THAT bothered about social media and the brand, why did he/the club double down and go even harder on the stuff last year,
And whats wrong with him wanting to be one of the biggest sports brands in the world, is that not one area of his job?

i've no idea why he's still employed, i no longer support him in this position, but i'm not KF and i'm not the board, i dont know their metrics for keeping him on, maybe the 3 finals and one trophy has bought him considerable goodwill and they're commited to giving him one more crack., but if you go back to 2017, everyone and his dog was adamant KF wouldn't sack his former boss in tony smith, and he sacked him.
i dont see that the 2 are related though, you might as well be complaining that there weren't any large or XL home shirts in the most recent sale and why is steve price still employed by us.
Some people just don,t like him, and they haven't from the moment he got appointed, and they don,t actually know why, but its easier to just keep banging on about it than publicly change their opinion

Well i'm very sorry you have lost your employment, however as i've mentioned the club have done this to try and get some money in, that 3.49 has nothing to do with the season starting, and everything to do with keeping some money going through the till, and in return giving the folks that have signed up something worth their money, old matches or interviews.
Its the same argument as the benefits of having a membership, you pay your money, you get first dibs at cup tickets etc and news first.
i dont see how thats something to beat the club/KF.
however, if you're on twitter, hopefully you'll have seen that the club have posted a sky sports interview with greg and also one from the guardian with matt turner this morning.

Because I'm fed up with the acceptance of mediocrity year on year from the people at the top of the club. Tony Smith ended up staying a year or two too long even Paul Cullen did.
We don't have this ruthlessness like the other teams Leeds, Wigan and Saints and it's probably one of the reasons why we haven't been as successful as these teams and never won a Grand Final.
There's nothing wrong with waning to become one of the biggest sports brands in the world but this should be secondary to on the field performances and success. Wouldn't you agree? Everything should become secondary to that. I've met Karl and he's a decent bloke but do I think he's the right man for the job? No I don't.
I think the reasons for keeping Price on and probably for the reasons above. We are just to nice. By the way, on Tony Smith lets be clear he left by mutual consent - that's not the same as being sacked.

| "left by mutual consent" is sometimes another way of the employee accepting the sack and the employer respecting previous good service
I'm not quite sure that aiming to be one of the world's biggest sports brands is a separate secondary aspiration to on field performance and success we should be striving for both and by and large they are interdependent one assists the other.
I don't think that there is an acceptance of mediocrity to the extent that you portray. Was last season a disappointment? I'd say yes. Should Price have gone? Probably and if he was at the clubs you mentioned then that may have happened
However on a POSITIVE note we had a fairly decent team and we've shown ambition in the transfer market to balance and improve the squad including getting the guy who's the subject of this thread (not Tony Smith) so let's see how this season pans out before getting the pitch forks out for Price and Fitzpatrick .

| I'm looking forward to watching GI, which may be a little later than hoped with an anticipated delay to the season starting.
The club should be looking to get whatever they can in spinoffs from his signing.

These are quotes from less than three months ago (and bear in mind the season has been finished for one of those) in about Price.
Hardly sounds to me like the sort of thing that is said about a coach who should be sacked.

That was also at a time due to injuries price had little choice in team selection and it worked infact prices input on that winning team was to break it up as players returned from injury

| If KP is really saying he wants Wire to be one of the worlds biggest brands? Delusional?
RL is the best sport in the world, that's true. But it will only ever be appreciated in the M62 corridor.
I'm OK with that.

| Wigan, at least in the 1990s, was a brand that transcended the M62 corridor. Maybe not worldwide, but certainly across England and in Australia. That would be something to aim for for starters.
I guess one rule of thumb is, if you asked a random person who was not a RL fan to name some Super League teams, who would they say. How common would Warrington be one of the answers.
Try it yourselves with RU, if you aren't a RU fan. I bet you can think of three of four clubs. They might not even be a place, you might not know where they actually play, but you know the name because you know the brand.

| We are well off topic now, but since the discussion seems to have drifted yet again to aspects of the club where we believe there are issues, I would suggest there are three main problems;
1. Academy is not producing enough first team players.
This has been discussed at length before but I don't think we should underestimate it. Saints, Wigan, Leeds all have a very strong track record with their academies and I personally think it's just as important as our recruitment. With the departure of Harvey Livett, we now have a gap of 6 years where we have not produced a squad player (Philbin and King).
2. Our recruitment has been poor.
We have probably spent too much time bringing in expensive 'stars' to gain publicity rather than focussing on deficiencies in the squad eg it was a long time before we got some form of Briers replacement and more recently the two bench props that a blind man could have spotted. The Board, KFP and Price will all have an input in this area, but as KFP is in charge of the month to month financial running of the club I think he is probably the main culprit here.
3. The coach is underperforming.
We should be consistently top four and winning silverware with the money we spend on our squad, but it's not happening. It's difficult to pinpoint what has gone wrong here because we see so little of what Price does with the squad in training. But we do know he is relatively inexperienced and lacks a track record of success. Tactics, particularly close to the line have been poor. Defence as you might expect from an Aussie coach has been good. He is very risk averse, so we see little exposure of the academy kids and given the option he tends to play the same group of players from the squad. He doesn't seem to be able to lift the players and motivate them when the chips are down. Considering the long hours he works he just doesn't seem to have the talent for the job.
