I'd recommend one German film;
- [iRun Lola Run[/i, with Franka Potente from The Bourne Identity.
Couple of Spanish ones;
- [iTalk to Her[/i (Habla Con Ella)
- [iThe Sea Inside[/i (Mar Adentro)
And another couple of French films;
- [iBrotherhood of the Wolf[/i (Le Pacte Des Loups)
- [iIt All Starts Today[/i (Ça Commence Aujourd'hui)

| I do love a bit of foreign cinema, though haven't seen much new lately. The Mesrine movies were fantastic, very cool.

| I went to a screening of The Life of Others in 2007 and at the end of the film the staff announced a Q&A session with Florian von Donnersmarck, the director. All very odd. He stood there for half an hour fielding questions.
Anyway, good European films- this is an obsession of mine:
[uBelgian[/u
Man Bites Dog
[uGerman[/u
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum
Head On (find this if this is the only European flick you ever buy)
Edge of Heaven
Fear Eats The Soul
The White Rose
Sonnenallee
Atomised
[uFinnish[/u
Lights in the Dusk
[uDutch[/u
Black Book
Business is Business
Katje Tippel
Soldier of Orange
[uFrench[/u
Le diner de cons
La Doublure
Subway
Milou en mai (my favourite film)
Water Lillies
La Reine Margot
The City of Fear
Three Colours- White
[uDanish[/u
Festen
The Boss of It All
After The Wedding
Babette's Feast
[uNorwegian[/u
O'Horten
I'm not a ponce, honest...

Probably the scariest and most disturbing film ever that doesn't have any blood, knives, guns, axes, monsters, ghosts, etc. Also must be one of the prime candidates for the worst ever Hollywood remake despite the fact it was remade by the same guy!

Definitely. Remember the scene in the bar where he makes the cocktail with sugar cubes and an olive designed to look like a murder victim being weighed down? It's mocking a real murder from 20 years ago...
Sadly, the guy who directed it and played the main cameraman in it killed himself a few years ago.

| Some of the new French horror is fantastic, such as Haute Tension (already mentioned as Switchblade Romance) and the most utterly extreme film I have ever seen, Martyrs.
Mind you some early French stuff is great as well including Les Diaboliques and Eyes Without A Face.
Also worthy of a watch is Wolfgang Petersens Das Boot (German of course).
