Do you actually support Widnes Al? If not, why suck up to Warrington so much?

Thompson is a brilliant player and would walk into Warrington's side as a starting prop. He's in the international setup ahead of Cooper, so absolutely no reason why he wouldn't be ahead of him domestically as well.

Fortunately, answers to all of these questions will be available tomorrow night.

Thompson is/was a backrower who plays prop well, but fatigues into errors with big minutes against bigger packs. It's not fabrication...he's like Sims....well perhaps not but the bases apply...LMS is worse when he starts as a prop.

I have supported Widnes for 55 years Saddened and as such I have little love for Warrington or Saints either for that matter. I am a big admirer of Warringtons front 3 but as you would see if you read some of my other posts I prefer Saints players in most other positions, except maybe for Austin! I like chatting RL and What I would say is that the Warrington folk seem more open to reasonable discussion and are more acceptable of your opinions. However as there isn't an active Saints board on this site perhaps its just the disrespectful ones that end up on the Wire one.
I'll finish on the subject now still with my opinion that Thompson is a good player who would not automatically walk into the Warrington team as first choice prop. Until I've seen him prove himself when it matters I'll keep my opinion and no amount of abuse or slanging will change it. If it does change I'll wiilingly let you know!

Cooper has proven himself in the nrl(despite what that utter tool as108 says!). Until Thompson goes and does the same, cooper has nothing to prove to him in terms of who is better.

He's criticized plenty of Warrington players. Just because his opinion is different to yours doesn't make him a Warrington fan.

Ticks me off how they claim we don't matter to them, but still celebrate beating us like a cup final win. Weird lot.

I can’t believe I’m having this debate, Thompson is 10x the player Philbin is. Thompson is a top ten prop in the world, Philbin isn’t even top 10 in Super League. There’s having an opinion and then there’s just being completely wrong.

No, he is. Philbin is a decent bench prop who’ll come on and run it in at speed a few times. However, he has only made 100+ metres twice (out of 18 games) whereas Thompson has done so 9 times out of 15 games. Thompson is a world class prop who does big minutes and makes big metres, always landing on his front and playing the ball quickly. He’s also younger than Philbin yet has a grand final win to his name and has been in the dream team as well as the World XIII. What’s Philbin done? I don’t see Philbin anywhere near the main England setup either. I’m not trying to wind anyone up, all the facts suggest that Thompson is a much better player who will go on to have a far greater career.

Women’s World readers recently voted George Clooney as best looking man in the world...there was uproar in the St Helens Gazette claiming how can he be...he doesn’t play for Saints!!

But if he did he'd be in the top ten half backs in the world despite being 58 years of age

Back to the game in general as there's bigger issues to discuss than Thompson <> Philbin having been dragged slightly off course by our Saints siren, this is a BIG Game IMO and a crowd of circa 5,000 plus on last week's attendance would suggest that others think the same.

We need to put in a performance and grab a win especially after Tony Smith's latest charges have helped our top two aspirations. If we don't win then we need to match Saints across the park and push them to the brink another walloping like the away game simply won't be acceptable
