What strikes me looking at those clips is how similar his play is to Ben Murdoch-Masilla. He is probably a bit taller than BMM but around about the same weight ? Anyway, if he gets too slow for the centres ......

I would have thought powerful-running second row was his future rather than centre.

Quite surprising so many ppl have said about putting him in the pack because of his size. I'd imagine that would be a bigger challenge fitness wise for him than playing out wide. Union forwards struggle with getting back the ten. It may still be difficult for him.

He will stuggle the first season with getting back 10. No doubting that. Whatever happens this season eh needs to be judged come Feb 2020.

I’m pretty sure a heavily edited rugby league video highlighting a centre would feature some crap tackling viewed in isolation. Though a lot of it is bigger lads not getting there.

He’s nowhere near as explosive as BMM.

It’s not impossible he could end up on the wing? Especially if Lineham goes back to Hull.

I'll be quite sad when Lineham goes. He's been a quality signing barring that couple of months in 2016.

Interesting that he has never really been taken to the fan's hearts the way that Charnley has. Could it be his early association with R Bailey prejudiced people? He always comes across as a likeable sort of bloke to me...but I have never met him in person.

Well wherever Burrell goes, he certainly has all the attributes we need for a number of positions.

Fully up to speed? A year ish. Should be ready to go the start of next season physically. The two games aren’t that different if you fling him at centre or on the wing.

Charnley joined during a different time. Lineham is still associated with the end of the Smith era. He still doesn’t quite put the same effort in as Charnley in terms of helping out the forwards, but he improved massively in that area last season.

Not me. Lineham has an around better game than Charnley.

Lineham has played a lot better on the left wing than when he was on the right. I hope he stays.

I’m a massive fan of Charnley who I personally think has a great all-round game too.

Charnley rightly gets the plaudits he deserves, but Lineham is very underrated - he has a fantastic strike rate, is rarely caught out of position (I guess having Goodwin inside helps) and works hard bringing the ball away even if he doesn’t appear as enthusiastic as Charnley.

I hope we are able to keep both of them. Charnley is the better of the two, but Lineham is big, strong and a very good finisher. Quicker than you’d expect too once he gets going.

Incidentally, is he really that homesick for the York area? Or is it just that he still doesn’t get on with his snobby neighbours over here.

I would imagine he would be a better fit at Leeds than Hull, should the opportunity come along at the end of the season.

Not sure what all the fuss (on either side) is personally - he's no mug and played centre for England a few years back. Reasonably big and quick, but I can't see him playing in the pack for us. Good PR though.

Interesting reading the reactions at the time. Given that Burrell counted off the salary cap this was seen by a lot of people as a good bit of business from the club.

Too much of a troll fest, less of an interesting reading, sadly.

More like awkward reading of seeing fans of other clubs being ridiculed by us for having takes on this signing that turned out to be accurate whilst Wire fans showered plaudits on the club for its genius recruitment.

Not “genius recruitment “ but praised for trying something different. It was an experiment, everyone knew that but was seen as low risk. It hasn’t paid off, move on.

It raised the profile of the club, and got us a tiny bit of recognition in the mainstream media. Positive, at the time.

Not exactly "burned it up", but leaves the club (eventually) with no ill feeling. Not every signing can be a success. We live and learn.
