On the Morley issue, as much as I think it's a load of rubbish, it does make me wonder why Lee Mitchell has been recalled from his dual loan spell at Leigh to take a place in the squad. Surely this place could easily have been given to somebody else if its purpose is simply to make up the numbers. Although I appreciate that withdrawal’s can happen between now and kick-off.

Mitchell's dual reg deal means he can play for Leigh whenever he isn't required to play for us.

Cooper is on a full on loan deal, which if I remember correctly, means he can't be recalled within the first month of the deal (or in this case, the entire period of the loan)

I would have thought so as well. But I don't know if you can recall players who are on short-term loans (i.e. 1 month) - I might be wrong though. I think that was the purpose of these dual-registrations.

Anyway, it's not an issues I'm sure, it was just a thought.

No, he's fine. Watch the post-match interview with Smith on the official site after last weeks game. Wood and Morley were just playing well so he kept them on.

I'll agree with that. For a couple of days there's been some good RL discussion, then tyhose two go and spoil it. To get back on track, Carvell was certainly limping at the end of the game, so there may be some doubt. On the other hand, TS has to vary his 19 each week, otherwise players not in the final 17 would not get much match practice. It also sends a message to Mitchell that he hasn't been forgotten about.

I believe Mitchell has been in superb form for Leigh - very well earned call up and illustrates the benefits to both clubs of the dual registration system.

I think Smith is wanting to re-assure them that they haven't gone on loan as a stepping stone to getting rid, but of keeping them fit and getting them playing on a regualr basis.
Even though at the time that is what was said, I think several people had that 'knowing look'.
I - for one - am pleased with how they're being handled.
Later on in the season if we have injuries they'll be needed.
And in the long term too.

Yes, we've been fortunate so far, and they will play a part later on this season. I would imagine that if Mitchell isn't required this week that he'll go back to Leigh and maybe McCarthy will be in the squad next week.

Mathers is back at full back, Riley is going to the wing if Bridge doesnt make it, Bridge has been ill all week but did train today.

As I've mentioned on the Saints board it's a strange one. Why mess about with mind games over a name like Briers. He's about as scary as us telling you that Chris Flannery or Gary Wheeler were going to be missing. As we've seen over the last few weeks Warrington without Briers aren't the mess they used to be. If anything you've played better without him.
