If that was Hull or Wigan, they would have stuck 50 on Saints tonight, not been beaten by 2 points. But the difference with Warrington is that when we come against a really poor side, we end up sinking to that level ourselves.
Regardless of whether we had 5 days rest, and they had 2 weeks rest, Saints were far from the "Entertainers" tonight and were there for the taking, and once again, we didn't take it.
I wasn't confident before the game, so the result isn't a surprise to me, however I'm very disappointed in the way the result happened. We should have won that game, but our inability to step it up against a poor team cost us, just like it has done several times this season.'"
We were certainly off tonight, but I really can't see where the idea that Hull or Wigan would have put 50 points on Saints comes from. Regardless of their record this season I saw their line-up and thought it looked very dangerous.

| Some people really take Saints defeats waaaay over the top. To say Wigan would have put 50 on them....how did they get on the other week? Oh that's right, they got beat by saints. I think we have a few issues to address, but we're really not a million miles off.

Genuine question: do these sort of posts make people feel any better in defeat?

| Think your all been a bit hard on your team, saints are in great form with a week extra rest, whats the bet we struggle tonight I'm more concerned about the way Wigan get an easy fixtures against a team decimated with injures and who played last week great planning that for Wigan
Are the fixtures committee all ex Wigan players like the disciplinary committee? why not to be fair, give us semi finalist a game against each other so its not unfair to any team, Wigan came out of this smelling of roses as normal, after the bruising battle we had with them last week you would of stuck 40 past them, you'll be back don't be surprised if we slip up as well but Wigan will beat Waky they looked busted

| Nothing like a narrow defeat against one of the league's better teams to provoke a total overreaction among our fans. Yes, I thought we were very poor. We had opportunity after opportunity and just seemed to waste them as we have on a number of occasions this year. For me Ratch isn't a full back, Russell isn't a winger and Kevin Penny is basically Brian Bevan compared to what was on the wing last night. The answer is quite simple for me and I wonder if TS doesn't want to make a tough call rather than leave out an easy target (who has had an excellent season by the way).
To have people calling for TS to leave (albeit only one I think) and saying that we won't win anything is nuts. Nearly every single time we lose any game people say this - it's bizarre!

We played exactly the same against Wigan in our last game and won 23 - 4. You came up against a smarter side and it was Gidley and Sandow who were poor and not about sinking levels, you always play scared against Saints at your place.

100% this, I couldn't believe some of the tripe I was reading last night, I hate losing as much as anyone but last night was well OTT, we are by no means out of the play offs I don't care we're we come as long as it's in the four. If your in you still have a chance.

| I think we were very unlucky not to win last night. I didn't expect us to play much better than we did after 5 day turn around etc....and Saints won more on luck not skill. A 2 point penalty for a push might not have been given by another ref. Evans try had we not been on sky would have been a winner as it was sent up as one.
There's a curse at HJ when we play Saints, they always get the rub of the green.

Only seems to be out coached on home soil. We don't seem to have a problem away from home.
Just remember, last night we hardly looked interested for 60 minutes, whereas Saints genuinely gave everything they had. They celebrated like it was a GF win. Team photo underneath the sticks and everything. What's all that about? I'm pretty confident we'll play them in the semi final and they'll get what's coming to them.
The arrogance of that club if by far worse than Wigan or Leeds. And they take some beating.

| I have to admit that last night I was as angry as an angry angry Anderson!!! To keep getting beat by Pound land Jack Black and Bog Eyed Bill irritates me to my wits end. Our problems (for me) lie in the total lack of pace. Evans is not the answer on the wing he is shocking in defence of his position, however as a centre he still lacks pace but boy can he defend! TS has been put in an awkward place by the antics of Penny and Lineham off field and as such is making them pay, but it leaves the team sadly lacking any pace out wide. On another note we mainly tackled one out last night, which is not what our opponents did, we never hunted, they did!
LMS is getting a bad name presently for his antics, he had no business attacking Hughes and as such that should have been our penalty. His enthusiasm is great to see particularly when we don't show the same and if we did we would have beaten them last night and others over the season.
One last point, where was the creativity from the halves? Yet another game goes by with the total absence of an end of set kicking game

| I think we just need to let last nights result pass without getting to emotional about it. The boys have had to turn around in 5 days and try and come down from the emotional high of last Saturday.
Granted we were crap last night and most of the things we tried ended up on the floor. But at the end of the day we lost by 2 points and only failed to win by a few blades of grass. I am confident that if we ever meet saints again in the final four, we will give them a good hiding. We also need to address the wing positions as at the moment Toby and Rhys on the right edge are not working. Toby is not ready yet and Rhys is a centre trying to fill in.
Note to Chris Hill: What were you thinking Pal!!

| I am not normally one to comment on referees but last night Benthams disregard for being square at marker ruined our biggest threats in Russell and Clark. Saints were barely square once and he never pinged them once!
Thought the packs cancelled each other out but our halves were pretty poor and our backline outshone by a very average saints backline

| Last night should have been our best chance for years to beat Saints at home ,but they have improved massively in the last few games since i watched them against Widnes & they certainly came to spoil our party.
Not mentioning the apparent lack of the application of the offside rule to Saints, they really beat us with basic rugby, fast play the ball & players supporting the ball carrier so any player could throw passes with confidence knowing a man was on his shoulder. LMS as a dummy runner for the last try was sublime & Luke Walsh controlled the game with his kicking.
On the other hand, once more we seemed to be throwing wild passes with abandon ,allowing too much ball to go to ground & allowing an opponent to make too much yardage on sets of six. We really need to work on a plan to score tries from close quarters instead of just being good at scoring from 30 yards out.

| We can be too predictable and need more variety on attack against better teams. Toby King has always played on the left. Evans is a centre and Sandow needs to contribute far more over 80 minutes.

If that's the case I don't see any point in why we have kept him around, season is over by time he is fit on that basis and he as said he will be going home only wanting one season over here.

I'm not sure where you are getting the "feel any better in defeat" from, Mr Albion. I said before the game kicked off that I wasn't confident about the win, so it wasn't a surprise to me that we lost, considering our record against Saints at the HJ and each teams turnaround from their last game.
I would have been more surprised had Rhys' try been given and we'd have won the game. What I stated in my post was how I saw the game. If someone else saw it differently, then that's up to them.
