I was there and in the East stand but we scored so many tries I've got myself confused. What did he do for the 1st try?

You're correct on both counts, Currie's first was brilliant.
But Sandow's outside of the foot (don't bother chasing, I'll collected it myself) jobbie was the greatest try ever.
He's almost as good as Briers, but is much shorter.

| Sandow was unplayable tonight, how the hell can you practice all week to try and defend that, he's very much a play what you see player.
His two trys and the kick in the second half for lineham in the corner, NO ONE ANYWHERE expected that kick to do that, but I'll wager dollars to donuts he meant to do it.
That man is scary

| Also, massive pat on the back for Jordan Cox, while we did lose some cohesiveness when chilly was off the field, Christ i felt sorry for some cas players with how he was running the ball in and tackling others.

| But he's a complete waste of money isn't he? That's what all the other teams were saying last season. Wish we had Matty smith instead. Had the misfortune to miss the game and watch saints v leeds instead. Poorest standard game between those two sides in a long long time, some abysmal rugby on show, knockonathon

| I really enjoyed the game tonight, first half was probably the best I have seen us since we smashed Leeds 40 - 6 a few seasons ago. We completed sets and just dominated them, then we coasted second half really but that's a great result and all round performance. Can't really fault anyone, Atkins best game for a some time, Cox put in some big hits and great drives. Hughes and westerman got through a lot of work, gidley was very good but Sandow take a bow what an incredible player, MOM for me best player on the pitch by a mile. I could carry on and name pretty much everyone tonight for good performances. We've a bubble to pop on Friday now but that should be a much tougher game. Tough on Cas at the minute with so many missing from their first team and it showed.

| Sandow must have read every page of the Lee Briers instruction manual then slid a few of his own pages in as well. Exceptional player.

| Remember that first game, Leeds fans singing "what a waste of money"?
Oh that game seems so very far away and as for waste of money, if he is our marquee signing he could probably go to Moran now and say double my money and Simon would be writing the cheque before he even finished the sentence.

| Some great tries scored.
Sandow unreadable.
Pity about Dwyer's injury. He was having a wowser.
That first half was domination. It was helped by the worst Cas display I've ever seen (bucked their ideas up a little, second half). Hope they turn it round, soon. They play RL the right way.
Best we've played for a LONG time
Unsung hero of the night for me, though, was Kevin Penny. Whenever we scored in the first half, Cas would aim the restart at Kev. The cheeky metres he made from leg drive alone, always built a platform for a great set of six. He must've "pinched" 100m from this, throughout the match. Well done.
Downside
That annoying bugle call they nicked from cricket, whenever we scored. Gimmicky trash.
"Singing corner's" "tribute song" to Monaghan. Pathetic. Only here 5 seasons, but could easily be classed as a club legend, and they sing THAT about him. What next, taunting Briers (when he runs on with a water bottle) about his drink driving ban?
The Jimmy Savile chant. Crass rubbish, and no place at a Wire Cas game (or ANY game). I'd rather like to think Cas fans wouldn't do the same at the reverse fixture, regarding Stuart Hall (from our side of the Pennines).

Was thinking about Penny while watching the game last night. His leg drive and technique driving the ball in now is fantastic. I can't remember the last time he got pushed backwards. He is also doing more work in the pivot positions and really stepping up his responsibility levels. I think his understanding of the game is very well developed now.
Also watching Russell, it's amazing how much his game has come on from last year. He can now pass the ball backwards and to his own players. I thought he was very one dimensional last year and didn't see him kicking on. I thought Johnson looked streets ahead of him last season in the few first team games he played but Russell fully deserves his place this season adding some really good passes to his great scoots. Great what a little competition for places can do along with some hard work in the off season.

| I'm not one of these anorak program tickers who record everything that happens during a game but I didn't notice many penalties conceded by Wire and we seemed to have a good completion rate. If the stats confirm this, it goes to show that if you get the basics right, the rest will follow.

The stats say we gave 5 penalties - Gidley, Clark, King, Ratchford (2)
Error count was 7, Cas made 13.

The radio said it was Russell, then said Gidley after hearing the announcer. I saw another match report claiming it was Russell but incorrectly attributed to Gidley.
