| This should prove interesting as Austin appears to thrive on being the “go to” half. Will he retreat into his shell with Widdop back?

I know Sky have been pushing that in recent weeks, but i'm not sure that's the case. He didn't seem to be in his shell during the last mach pre lockdown vs Hull, both players played well individually and in the previous weeks there were signs that they were starting to develop as a partnership.

There were no reported injuries from last week but it could be a training ground injury or even a common cold. Hopefully it is rotation and I would say that Ratchford and Cooper would be heading the list of players that need to be spelled.
Only 4 days between the Catalan and Salford league games then a further 4 to the semi-final. I would expect that at least one more senior player is rested on Friday.

| Price did say he has a fully fit squad to chose from bar Lineham, hopefully it’s just a case of rotation.

| Ratchford plays stellar after a break. We need him in top shape for Salford. Widdop needs some responsibility and game time. Looks a great decision from Price.

| With the forwards returning and Widdop back in the halves it leaves either Ashton or Ratchford at FB. You could argue that Ashton might best be left out of the team since that was what Price did when we played Hudds., but Ratchford has played in all our matches so far and had a tough gig in the forwards as well, so my guess would be that he is not injured but merely rested. Price must think he has died and gone to heaven with a fully fit squad to select from and the only headache is who to leave out.

I was mulling over the opposite theory. Austin was great when he first joined but then seemed to go down hill. Was that because he had to shoulder the whole burden of being our attacking half because Patton never provided it ? The only real threat that Patton offered was the kick to the wing and occasionally a kick through, so Austin had to provide the attacking edge. But now he has Widdop alongside him...........

I don't think Austin is doing better because Widdop is off the field, i think it's just a case of he HAS to step up so has done.
Ratchford deserves a rest and needs to go back to Fullback when he returns, which leaves the problem of what do we do with Ashton?
Ratch is a much better Fullback than Ashton and Mamo and Charnley haven't done anything to just be dropped. I'd keep Mamo in the Squad over him to be honest.

It’s a very good position to be in if not dilemma, we got basics.lbasically we have plenty of cover.

| Huge dilemma as for me you cannot drop Ashtons pace, Yes Stef is a more rounded FB and can play pretty much anywhere, id rather him at a 13 so we can keep Ashtons pace in the team. Mamo as also been outstanding and for me he cant be dropped either.
Selection headache commence!

| It makes things really easy at the moment because he can, in theory, rest any one from Ratchford, Ashton, Mamo or Charnley. He's also covered for injury. Where we have the least chance to rest / rotate is in the front row because there is a step change without Hill, Cooper or Philbin. Latu, Kibula, Doro and, when he's not missing, Akauola provide cover but non of them can do the minutes.

| Cooper deserves a rest but probably Price feels he needs him against Catalans, wouldn’t be surprised to see him rested against Salford in the League game.

I think virtually a whole team will be rested vs. Salford in the League

| Let's not underestimate Salford.
I'm sure SP won't, and that's why I think he'll rest only a few players for that match (assuming not too many injuries tonight).
Coops deserves a rest, possibly Currie, Austin and King too, although there's an argument to keep Austin playing to develop the relationship with Widdop.
The others have had an enforced rest other the last few weeks or haven't been chosen.

This is where Price will earn his corn. The semi is a vital game but we need to win both the Catalan and Salford league games. It's a very congested fixture list over the next three weeks. If we make the final then it's 6 games in 23 days.

I don’t disagree, but I can’t help thinking Salford will put all their eggs in the CC basket and are therefore liable to rest a few for the League Game

Not a bad idea at all mate, all the Aussies think he'll be a starting prop for New Zealand next year so rotate the bugger now.
