Warrington have signed Josh Charnley with immediate effect. At last some pace on the wings.

A good winger, and better than we have already at the club, I'm still not sure how happy I am with seeing Charnley in a Wire shirt though

Always was a good player, though fortunately, his status of having the worst haircut in Super League has now been usurped by George Williams, so my own main objection to his coming here has gone.

My prejudice towards him stems from the plethora of tries he scored against us, and of course the ridiculous hair cut. All have now been forgiven. Welcome to the Wire Josh...I hope you don't play outside of Ryan Atkins!!

Isn't Josh a useful goal kicker too ? Just hope Union hasn't spoiled his game.

Wingers and backs generally don't get affected the same, or so thats been the case in SL, its usually forwards that have been conditioned differently that take some time adjusting back.

He's an ok backup kicker I think, but with Goodwin, Ratchford and Roberts we're already fairly comfortable in that area (albeit Goodwin wasn't in great form with the boot on Saturday). Add in Livett and Patton too for when they are on the field.

The club have been after him for a while but kept it under wraps. Best way, I reckon, to avoid sundry slagging off on these boards.

So which winger is going to miss out for him, and I don’t expect him to be straight in either, probably be a few weeks. Also is that the nail in the coffin of Matty Russell.

I remember it vaguely being mentioned in another thread. I personally thought it unlikely due to him only starting the second year of a contract. No one mentioned on the Incoming thread until the very end. I would have expected those in the know to be over it like a tramp on chips.

Matty must be bottom of the pile for wingers at the club now. I think his days of first team football here are coming to an end. It would be difficult for SP to drop Mitch Brown on Friday after scoring one and setting up one in France.

If Roberts doesnt go, who misses out? Mitch Brown hasn't done anything wrong and has looked strong on the wing. Lineham? Interesting to see the first team line up when Charnley is introduced. Think this Friday may come too soon for him though....
