I was talking to a friend of mine from school today... i played rugby with him for years.. he ended up playing top flight rugby for a few years... we were talking about dirtiest players in the last 20 years.

he swears down its sonny nickle... reckons he was just the same in training.. broke his eye socket with an elbow playing tick and pass.

before he played for warrington i thought nikau was a bad apple... he gets my vote... he was a real cheap shot merchant.

Karl Pryce for me, he's always the first one in at the slightest sign of a bit of biff and he takes no prisoners. He looks a right hard case, i doubt Willie Mason would have picked on Stuart Fielden if big Karl had been in that GB team.

Ha, Sonny Nickles name came into my head from the thread title alone, then I read the OPs post. Don't know how many time he got sent off but he got away with loads of high shots, elbows and cheap digs.

Sonny was a hell of a good player!

It was very rare sonny would try cheap shots unless someone started. He did do the odd high shot. He never started many fights but he finished a few!

I recall him taking both the hulme brothers on at naughton park.

i remember emosi koloto from widnes cleaning him out cold with a large forearm smash... took them 10 mins to get him off the pitch... proper demolished him.

infact koloto was an absolute animal.

The hulmes was dirty little fookers.

They are family so won't say much more.

Dying breed now, and after the Ablett incident you can see why, that tackle in the day would have been par for the course.

Not disagreeing with you he was a good player that is why I would rather have him in my team. Sometimes though as an opposition supporter you see things that a home suppoter might not see or want to see from their own playericon_wink.gif
