Is the best young centre I have seen play in a while.

Was abit confused with what the Sky Commentators were saying in regards to his nationality.

Is he Welsh/English?? Or should the question be 'does he play for England or Wales?'

He was born in Wales and lived there for 15 years and the moved to Warrington. He has played for England against the Aussie school boys and was very very good.

He was born and brought up in Bridgend, IIRC. Lived there till he was about 13 the moved down here. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think he'll go, centre is a different position in Union, i mean Farrell and SBW play there.

Btw - Evans was superb tonight. Very confident full debut.

He did well last week aswell, when he came on. Hasn't at all looked out of place. I exect him to play next week after this performance.

He's welsh 19 leagues, but both him and Ben have opted to play for England, and as mentioned they did so in the Schoolboys victories over australia.


Oh and dont go thinking about sticking an offer in now that gleeson's gone, you cant have him. Not even for 100,000!

you were spot on mate, iirc they were taken from the same rugby school as Bateman and co., were rugby union and league players in wales, moved to Warrington on a promise from the club, played a few years at Burtonwood Bulldogs, and won everything they could with Great Sankey High School.

Just whilst were on Rhys, Ben is just as good, think a mix of Morley and Westwood, they both have a great future at our club.

to be fair to the RFU, seems the RFL arent to fussed either, Brough, Harrison, Bridge, Evans twins and Faasavalu iirc.

Give it a year or two of everyone telling him how awesome he is and you might find that reservation goes from his personality. Fingers crossed the politeness doesn't go with it!

Superb young player who I first commented on here about two years ago. The challenge will be to keep him. in Rugby League

He looks like a fantastic little player, but surely for the sake of international RL he should play for Wales (and his brother too, if he's as good as advertised).

Similarly Brough should play for Scotland.

On the subject of playing for England or Wales:

He has a free choice. He could even play for Scotland if he wished. The reason lies in the loose definition of what constitutes a country, and therefore, nationality. Wales, even by the loosest definition of a country is not one. If you want to get technical it is actually part of England: a region of. This is the reason they have a regional assembly and not a parliament. You can only have your own parliament if you are recognised as a country. A simplistic view of this would be to ask everyone who live in Great Brittan to look at their passport and see what it says. The all share the same nationality. My wife and I, she who was born in llanidlose in mid Wales share the same nationality. We are both British. We were not born in separate countries. As is usually the case this comes down to money. Because players are paid to represent their 'country' they cannot be excluded from doing so based on the region within the country that they were born. There is the power of employment law.

Just noticed at the end of his interview on Sky, he was asked about the England/Wales situation, and said that for him right now England is the best choice.

The code the twins could of easily have played in South Wales but instead made the move up North to play league?

Can't see it somehow.
