| Good decision in my opinion. He did OK but the back row is well stocked with Jason Clark, Matt Davis signed already and Luis Johnson looking good as well as Westwood and, hopefully, Currie.
Other positions need strengthening first especially prop and we now need cover at full back. QLT wouldn’t add too much to the salary cap and is also useful at half back as we discovered to our cost. Would be good short term signing.

Looks like Jack Johnson has been awarded a contract extension too.
Fair enough, given his current situation.

And how does that matter to big spending Warrington, exactly ?

Obviously for us the Salary Cap is more a guideline than anything strict but we do like to keep up appearances.

| We already have Currie, Hughes, BMM, Clark, Livett, Westwood, with Philbin able to do a shift at 13 also. I’ve liked the look of Thompson, but we have probably more pressing areas to improve.
Do we think Clark is set to play 13?
We need some cover at Full Back, Wing, prop and possible hooker. Prop being probably the most pressing.
This also confirms Brown is here next season.

| Two three quarters leaving, and no definite replacements, as yet. Inu has been rumoured, anyone else on the radar?
We also need another prop with Crosby and King being moved on. Alternatively, we could end up with a smaller squad for 2019.

I know, only kidding. I didn't rate Bodene Thompson that much for us at Leigh, he was OK in the championship. As for Mitch Brown he's probably too versatile for his own good, doesn't have one position where he stands out...

| None in that list will be going to play for any bigger SL club (lets see how long Crosby plays for Leeds) and so I look forward to seeing the better quality replacements.

How many Wire departures have actually gone on to play for bigger SL clubs?
Myler and Dywer went on to play for Leeds I suppose but they have struggled since they've been there.
GO'B had a stint at Saints on loan.
Martin Gleeson joined Wigan.
If you go back a bit further, Toa played for Hull and Bradford (at the time, those clubs were bigger than the pre-Halliwell Jones Warrington).
Then you get back to Harris going to Leeds and Sculthorpe going to Saints, or further still, Andy Gregory and Billy McGinty going to Wigan.
Not many in recent times...unless I'm missing some obvious ones!?

| Not many have left, recently, to play for bigger clubs, because we are considered a big draw, ourselves.
(I'm assuming) we pay big wages, we've been competatiive at the "business end" of the season for the majority of the last decade, so, any player leaving, would be errrr, daft.
Re. the ones who are leaving, I won't be losing any sleep. BodeneThompson looked lively, early on. Rest of them, thanks for your efforts.
Just as long as we have strength in depth, come February, I'm happy.

Not sure it meets the criteria of recent times, but Ian Sibbit went to Melbourne Storm. However, they did return him.

I have been pondering on the subject of "if only we kept hold of him" and cannot come up with any other than Greg Mackey, Paul Sculthorpe, Andy Gregory and Iestyn Harris.
All established players and not a youngster who went on to bigger and better things. We got Stan back, eventually, but I thought he was going to guide us to better things but disappeared to Hull.

| Kind of "one that got away", if you can classify him as such, from the late 80's:
Steve Jackson had a spell with us via a recommendation from Les Boyd, and his younger came too. He struggled to make our A team, got no where near our first team and disappeared back to Oz.
He then went on to score an overtime try to win the Grand Final for Canberra. I would never have thought that while he was over here, as his younger brother, Mark, looked more likely to make the grade.

| Would like to have retained Mitch Brown, safer in defence than Ratchford when he played at Full back.
No real surprises in the list though.

| If we include overseas signings then a few more "ones that got away" come in scope: Nigel Vagana, Danny Nutley and David Kidwell all went on to have successful careers in the NRL after leaving us. We let Sid Domic go too early and he had successful spells with Wakefield and Hull and would have enhanced our team had we kept him.
Another less big name was Michael Eagar who DVDV brought over with Nutley and was pretty good for us in a poor team but left after a year to go to Cas. In the next few years when we had a defensively flaky three-quarter line I often thought he would have given us a bit of solidity had he stayed.

| David Kidwell never set Wilderspool alight, and I found it annoying that we didn't see anything like his NRL performance level in the P&B. Agree that we let Sid Domic go when he did was too early, if I remember it was over quota spots, and I cannot for the life of me remember who stayed? Phil Blake was just awesome in his short spell with us and was definitely a player I would have loved to have seen extend his stay. Eager was a handy centre, but I can't recall being that bothered when he moved on. Perhaps I underestimated his contribution.

Wasn’t it Appo or Domic? Seems an obvious choice in retrospect that Domic should have stayed, but hadn’t Appo just made the Dream Team the previous year?

The likes of Vagana, Nutley and Kidwell were ones that the NRL "let get away", hence they went back, a bit like Barba, now.
I loved Blake, but, come on, he was never going to stay here (or even Wigan, he went there, too), in favour of being an NRL star, even though(iirc) he didn't get an International cap.
Domic, and to a certain extent, Eagar were ones that did get away. To be fair to us, there was a lot of signings that heralded a stellar club career over here, but never materialised. Simon Gillies, anyone?
I'm afraid Appo was a one season wonder. I was speaking to someone when Appo was on our books, and apparently he'd made a career of a great run of matches, arrange a new contract, do nowt, move on. Rinse and repeat.
